University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) GPA Calculator

UVAS grades coursework on a 0.00 to 4.00 quality-point scale with five letter grades — A, B, C, D and F. The university's Academic Statutes state the headline values (A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0) but also specify that the actual quality points for a course are worked out from the percentage of marks in that course against a separate conversion table published by the Office of the Controller of Examinations, not from a flat per-letter value.

The marks bands behind each letter are: A 80–100%, B 65–79%, C 50–64%, D 40–49%, and F below 40%.

For the Pharm-D program specifically, a ‘D’ grade is treated as a fail (F) rather than a pass, and the minimum passing marks are 50% (instead of 40%) in each course.

GPA is calculated at the end of each semester from the quality points earned in each course, and CGPA accumulates across semesters. Quality points for a course are worked out from the percentage of marks in that course, not from the percentage of a student's total marks across all courses.

• To pass a course, a student needs at least 40% marks each in Theory and Practical, separately — for DVM, B.S. (Hons.) and DND degrees.
• Pharm-D students need at least 50% marks each in Theory and Practical, separately.
• The maximum GPA/CGPA is 4.00.

To be promoted into the next semester, a UVAS student's GPA/CGPA must meet a rising minimum that starts low in the early semesters and reaches the graduation floor by the final year:

• Semesters 1–2 (and the first Summer): 1.00
• Semester 3: 1.20
• Semester 4 (and Summer): 1.30
• Semester 5: 1.40
• Semester 6 (and Summer): 1.50
• Semester 7: 1.75
• Semester 8 (and Summer): 2.00

A student may repeat, once, the course(s) from a previous semester in which they earned the lowest grade — ‘D’ (‘C’ for Pharm-D students). The improved grade replaces the earlier F or D (F or C for Pharm-D) on the transcript.

To be awarded the DVM, Pharm-D, B.S. (Hons.), or DND degree, a UVAS student needs a minimum CGPA of 2.50. A student who finishes their coursework with a CGPA of at least 2.00 but below 2.50 may repeat — once — the courses in which they earned their lowest grades, to try to bring their CGPA up to the required 2.50; failing that, they do not qualify for the degree.
