National Textile University (NTU) GPA Calculator

National Textile University grades undergraduate coursework on an Absolute Grading System: each course's final marks percentage maps to a fixed letter grade and grade point on a 0.00-4.00 scale, from A+ (90% and above, 4.00) down to F (below 50%, 0.00).

To pass a course, a student must score at least a D grade (50%, 1.00 grade point) in Theory and Practical work separately — a Practical component is graded as its own course out of 100 marks. Final-exam weightage is set by the university at 30% class participation/assignments/quizzes, 30% mid-semester exam, and 40% final exam; the final exam is mandatory regardless of a student's standing on the other components.

NTU reports a Semester GPA and a Cumulative GPA (CGPA) from grade points earned across courses. Two grades are excluded from GPA/CGPA arithmetic:

• A W (withdrawn) grade — awarded when a student withdraws from a course within 10 weeks of the semester's start with prior permission; it carries no grade point and its credit hours are not counted toward the semester's credit load.
• An I (incomplete) grade — used only for projects, seminars, and special cases where a supervisory committee accepts the delay was outside the student's control; the outstanding work is due by the 3rd week of the following semester.

When a student repeats the same course, the old grade is substituted by the new grade for CGPA purposes; if instead a student takes a different course in place of a failed one, both grades remain on the transcript and both count.

An NTU undergraduate is expected to hold a CGPA of at least 2.00 throughout their studies. Standing is reviewed each semester:

• 1st probation — triggered if CGPA falls below 2.00 in the first semester; the student must raise it back to 2.00 or above in the following semester.
• Expulsion — if a student's first-semester GPA falls below 1.00, or a student on final probation fails to restore a 2.00 CGPA, they are expelled and cannot be readmitted.
• Final probation — a student still below 2.00 CGPA after the second semester may be promoted conditionally onto final probation rather than expelled outright.
• A student on probation may register for a maximum of 12 credit hours in the following regular semester, and is allowed at most two academic probations in a program before expulsion.

A student who fails individual courses but keeps a CGPA of 2.00 or above may instead repeat and clear those courses when next offered, without triggering probation.

To be awarded an undergraduate degree, an NTU student must: complete all courses approved by the Board of Studies with no F grade in any of them; maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.00 for the entire program; score at least a C grade in their Project/Thesis work; and pass a mandatory comprehensive viva voce examination held at the end of their final semester.

NTU awards the undergraduate degree with honors to a candidate who passes every required course on the first attempt while maintaining a CGPA of 3.0 or above in each semester.

Separately, any student who earns a GPA of 3.50 or above in a given semester is awarded a merit scholarship for that performance.
