Grades not counted toward GPA
Several transcript notations carry no grade-point value and are not used in GPA calculations: I (Incomplete) automatically converts to F if not resolved by mid-term of the following semester; W (Withdrawn, before the 60% point of the course) is not used in GPA calculations; AU (Audit) carries no credit; TR/TRA/TRB/TRC (Transfer credit) and AC (Articulated Credit) are credit-award notations, not calculated into the grade point average.

How GPA is calculated
Grade points are multiplied by course credit hours and summed, then divided by total credits attempted, to produce the semester or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Work ethics grades and Learning Support courses are not included in the GPA calculation. For a repeated course, the highest grade achieved is used to determine program completion, but for the cumulative GPA all attempts at all courses are calculated. A separate Adjusted Graduation GPA is calculated only on courses required for the student's specific program; when a course is repeated, the higher grade is used for this calculation.

Academic Standing Policy
Students must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 each semester to remain in good academic standing. Falling below 2.0 places a student on Academic Warning for one semester; if the GPA is not raised to 2.0 by the end of that semester, the student is academically suspended and must meet with a faculty/academic advisor to appeal for reinstatement. This policy is separate from the federal Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standard used for financial aid.

Graduation Requirements
To graduate, a student must earn a minimum grade point average of 2.0 ("C") in all courses required by the program of study, receive a passing/satisfactory grade in every required course (or accepted transfer credit), complete at least 25% of the required curriculum at Savannah Technical College, and satisfy all program-specific and financial obligations to the College.

Dean's List
At the end of each semester, students who achieve a GPA of 3.50 or higher while enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours are placed on the Dean's List. Learning Support courses are not included in the GPA calculation used for this determination.

Transfer Credit
Course credit may be awarded for courses completed with a "C" or better at another postsecondary institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Accepted transfer credit is posted as a grade of "TRB", "TRC", or "TRM", which is not calculated into the grade point average.
