Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) GPA Calculator

A student's cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) is the average of all grade points earned at the college, calculated the same way as the semester GPA but covering all credit courses attempted at GNTC; it appears on the student's permanent record.

A grade of "C" or better is required in a prerequisite course before a student can progress to the next level of instruction. A letter grade followed by an asterisk (*) indicates a Learning Support course: it is excluded from the Academic GPA but is calculated in the student's financial aid GPA for the HOPE Scholarship program.

A student who earns a semester GPA below 2.0 is placed on academic probation for the next semester of enrollment, and is removed from probation once a semester GPA of 2.0 or higher is earned.

A student already on probation who falls below a 2.0 GPA for two consecutive semesters faces academic suspension and may not enroll in classes for the next term. In the first semester of enrollment after a suspension, the student returns on academic probation and must meet with an advisor to establish intervention strategies.

A minimum average of "C" (2.0 GPA) is required for graduation, and a student must meet the minimum 2.0 GPA requirement for their program of study.

Each semester, students carrying a course load of at least 12 credit hours qualify for the Dean's List with a semester GPA of 3.5 to 3.79, or the President's List with a semester GPA of 3.8 or higher.

At graduation, students with a cumulative GPA of 4.0 are recognized as High Honor Graduates, and students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5-3.99 are recognized as Honor Graduates.

A grade of "TR" (Credit Course Transferred) carries no quality points and is not computed in the GPA. Credit earned through examination is recorded as "EXE" (Credit Course Exempted): it carries no grade points, but credit hours identical to the course's normal credit hours are awarded.
