Grade Point Average
The GPA at Syracuse University is calculated by dividing the total grade points earned by the total credit hours carried toward the GPA. GPA is calculated to three decimal places and is not rounded.
The grade point values are: A = 4.00, A− = 3.67, B+ = 3.33, B = 3.00, B− = 2.67, C+ = 2.33, C = 2.00, C− = 1.67, D = 1.00, F = 0.00. An Incomplete (I) grade calculates as an F (0.00) in the GPA while outstanding.
Grading symbols such as AU (Audit), NA (Did not attend), NG (No Grade), NR (Not Required), P (Pass), RM (Remedial), V (Variable length), and WD (Withdrew) are not counted in the GPA.

Academic Probation
A student with a cumulative GPA below 2.0, or whose semester GPA falls below 2.0, may be placed on academic probation. Schools and colleges may also set additional criteria for good academic standing. Probation may impact financial aid eligibility.
Probation categories include College Probation, Probation One-Semester Trial, and Academic Suspension. Schools/colleges may apply any category at any time and are not required to apply them sequentially.
Students facing academic suspension are officially withdrawn from the University. Readmission requires either a successful appeal, acceptance to a new school/college via intra-university transfer, or readmission to the original school/college.
