Yeshiva University GPA Calculator

GPA is computed by multiplying the quality points for each grade counted in the average by the number of credits earned in the course (Grade Quality Points × Credits = Grade Points), then dividing total grade points by total credits earned in those courses. Yeshiva University computes GPAs to three decimal places, with no additional rounding. Students have a separate GPA calculation for each program they attend.

Undergraduate students who earn an F, D-, D, D+, or W in a course may repeat it once, for a maximum of two attempts; a grade of C- or higher may not be repeated unless a curriculum specifically requires it. All attempts remain on the transcript, but credit counts only once toward the degree, and the highest grade earned counts in the GPA. Some graduate and professional schools count both attempts in calculating the GPA instead.

A semester or cumulative GPA below 2.000 places an undergraduate on Academic Probation, which carries restrictions (a 13-credit course-load cap beyond Jewish Studies requirements, plus advisement, registration, and activity conditions). Undergraduate men in the Wilf-campus Undergraduate Torah Studies (UTS) program are separately subject to probation if their UTS GPA falls below 2.0. Continued failure to meet these standards can lead to dismissal.

Undergraduates must maintain an overall average of 2.000 or better and an average of 2.000 or better within the major. A grade of C- or better is required in every course counted toward a major or minor, and in any prerequisite course before advancing to the course it precedes. Sy Syms School of Business students must additionally earn a C- or better in all required business-core courses and in required quantitative/economics courses.

Full-time, matriculated undergraduates who achieve a semester GPA of at least 3.500 are named to the Dean's List. Latin honors at graduation are based on cumulative GPA for courses taken in residence: Cum Laude at 3.500, Magna Cum Laude at 3.700, and Summa Cum Laude at 3.850. Latin-honors eligibility also requires minimum credits completed in residence on Yeshiva University's New York campuses (84 credits for a bachelor's degree, 72 for students who transfer in, 54 for a Katz Associate's degree).

Yeshiva University's cumulative GPA is determined only from courses taken at Yeshiva University itself — transferred coursework and grades are not included in the GPA calculation, though transfer students must still complete minimum in-residence credit requirements (60–72 credits depending on college and prior semesters elsewhere) to satisfy degree residency.
