How PMU calculates GPA
PMU computes GPA on a four-point scale. The numerical value of each letter grade earned is multiplied by the number of credit hours the course is worth, giving "quality points." The sum of a student's quality points is divided by the total number of credit hours attempted to give the GPA.
Grades of I (Incomplete), IP (In Progress), AU (Audit), EX (Exempt), TR (Transfer), W (Withdrawal), N (No grade), P (Pass), and AW (Administrative Withdrawal) are not calculated in the GPA. A grade of WF (Administrative Withdrawal Fail), assigned when a withdrawal is initiated after the tenth week of class, is calculated in the GPA at 0 grade points, the same as F.

Academic probation and dismissal
Students are placed on academic probation at the end of any semester in which their cumulative GPA falls below 2.0. A student on probation has one semester to raise their non-cumulative GPA to 2.0 or higher; doing so removes the probation. Failing to do so results in dismissal from the university if probation is not removed by the end of the second semester on probation.
Students who receive a D or F in any course are required to repeat it. After the first repeat, prior grades count toward GPA: a D followed by an A has the D erased and replaced by the A on the transcript; an F followed by a D followed by an A has the F erased, with both the D and the A averaged into the GPA. No more than 10 repeated courses are allowed over a student's career at PMU.

GPA requirements to graduate
To graduate, all PMU students are required to maintain an overall GPA of 2.0. Individual colleges may also set higher minimum GPA requirements for specific course categories — PMU's Core Curriculum, major-specific Core Curriculum courses, college-common courses, and courses within the major discipline — with the required GPA for each category set by the individual college.

Dean's List and graduation honors
The Dean's List is issued each semester to students who have completed at least 15 hours that semester, hold at least a semester GPA of 3.5, are in good academic standing, rank in the top ten percent of their college, have no failing or incomplete grades, and have no disciplinary action against them.
PMU grants Latin honors at graduation to students who have completed at least 60 credits in residence at PMU toward their degree and achieved the requisite GPA: Summa Cum Laude at 3.90 GPA, Magna Cum Laude at 3.70–3.89 GPA, and Cum Laude at 3.50–3.69 GPA.

Transfer credit policy
An enrolled student who wishes to take courses at another university for transfer credit to PMU must receive approval from their dean before doing so; in unusual circumstances a student may petition for credit after already taking the course elsewhere. The decision to credit a transferred course is based on a careful analysis of the course content and the student's performance in it. The host institution must be recognized by the Ministry of Education of its own country and must be accredited, and must provide learning experiences similar to those offered at PMU.
