Grading Symbols
Grades are assigned pursuant to the grading system established by Title 5, Section 55023 of the California Education Code. In addition to the standard A-F letter grades, Moorpark College uses several non-evaluative and pass/no-pass symbols that are not counted in the GPA:
- P (Pass) and NP (No Pass) — used when a course is graded on a pass/no-pass basis instead of a letter grade; not counted in the GPA. P replaced CR, and NP replaced NC, effective Fall 2009.
- SP (Satisfactory Progress) — used for noncredit courses only.
- CRE (Credit by Exam) — units awarded are not counted in the GPA.
- I (Incomplete) — assigned when required work is not completed for unforeseeable, emergency, and justifiable reasons; must generally be made up within one year. Not used in calculating units attempted or GPA.
- IP (In Progress) — used for courses that extend beyond the normal end of a term; not counted in the GPA.
- RD (Report Delayed) — a temporary notation for a delayed grade report; not counted in the GPA.
- W (Withdrawal), MW (Military Withdrawal), and EW (Excused Withdrawal) — no grade-point value; not counted in the GPA.

How GPA Is Calculated
Grade point average is calculated by dividing total grade points earned by total units attempted for grades that count toward the GPA (grade points = units × grade value). In calculating a student's degree-applicable grade point average, grades earned in nondegree courses are not included.
A student may apply a maximum of 20 units of credit earned under the Pass/No Pass option toward an A.A. or A.S. degree or Certificate of Achievement. Units earned on a Pass/No Pass basis are not used to calculate the GPA; however, units attempted for which "NP" is recorded are considered in probation and dismissal procedures.

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at Moorpark College?
Yes. How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at Moorpark College?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
