How grades are determined at UET Peshawar

Coursework is split into weighted components before a letter grade is assigned. For theory courses: 25% sessional evaluation (assignments, quizzes, oral tests, class presentations, projects), 25% midterm examination, 50% final examination. For B.Sc. lab courses: 25% sessional lab work, 25% midterm written exam, 25% final written exam, 25% oral (viva voce) examination. The final-year capstone project is marked 35% sessional work, 20% presentations to an evaluation committee, and 45% viva examination including the report.

UET Peshawar does not assign letter grades from a fixed percentage table. Actual marks are first converted to normalized marks by multiplying each student's marks by 100 divided by the highest marks obtained in that class. The normalized 50-100 range is then split into ten equal five-point bands and letter grades D through A are awarded across those bands; a normalized mark below 50 is an F. Because the normalization depends on the top scorer in each class, the same raw percentage can correspond to a different letter grade in different classes.

How UET Peshawar calculates SGPA and CGPA

Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) is the sum of quality points earned in a semester divided by the total credit hours taken that semester. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is the same calculation carried out across all courses taken to date. Both SGPA and CGPA are rounded to two decimal places.

If a course is repeated, every attempt is listed on the transcript in its own semester, but only the best grade obtained counts toward the CGPA.

Academic warnings and re-registration requirements

  • An SGPA of 2.0 or below in any semester triggers a written warning from the department chairman, with a copy sent to the student's parents or guardian.
  • An SGPA of 2.0 or below for three consecutive regular semesters, combined with a CGPA below 2.00, requires the student to keep re-registering until their CGPA reaches the graduation minimum. A written warning goes out once SGPA has been below 2.00 for two consecutive semesters.
  • A CGPA below 1.5 after the first two semesters blocks registration for the third semester until the CGPA reaches 1.5.
  • Three or more outstanding F grades from the first two semesters, still outstanding at the start of the fifth semester, block registration for the fifth semester until those courses are passed.

How migrated/transferred courses affect your CGPA

Students admitted by migration from another institution have their accepted prior courses listed on their UET Peshawar transcript. Their CGPA is calculated using both those accepted courses and the courses they take at UET Peshawar, with a note on the transcript identifying the student's previous institution and the courses taken there.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
Does UET Peshawar grade on a fixed percentage scale?

No. UET Peshawar first converts each student's marks into normalized marks - actual marks multiplied by 100 divided by the highest marks obtained in that class - and then bands the normalized 50-100 range into ten equal five-point intervals to assign letter grades. Because the normalization depends on the top scorer in the class, there is no single raw percentage that guarantees a particular letter grade.

What CGPA triggers an academic warning or forced re-registration at UET Peshawar?

An SGPA of 2.0 or below in any semester brings a written warning to you and your parents/guardian. If your SGPA stays at or below 2.0 for three consecutive regular semesters and your CGPA is below 2.00, you must keep re-registering until your CGPA recovers to the graduation minimum. A CGPA below 1.5 after your first two semesters blocks registration for your third semester until it reaches 1.5.
