City University of Science and Information Technology (CUSIT) GPA Calculator

City University of Science and Information Technology uses an absolute percentage grading system: your percentage marks in a course map to a fixed letter grade and grade point on a 0.00–4.00 scale. Each course carries 100 marks — 50% assessed during the semester (tests, quizzes, assignments, mid-term) and 50% in the final examination.

The full percentage-to-letter-to-grade-point mapping is shown in the Grade Scale Reference on this page. The minimum credit-earning grade is D (50%); marks below 50% earn an F (0.00 grade points).

CUSIT reports a Semester GPA (SGPA) each term and a Cumulative GPA (CGPA) across all semesters. Both are credit-hour weighted — each course's grade point is multiplied by its credit hours, summed, and divided by the total credit hours taken, so higher-credit courses weigh more.

• An F (Fail) is counted toward the SGPA/CGPA.
• Administrative grades W (Withdrawn), I (Incomplete) and S (Satisfactory) are not counted in the GPA.
• A student who withdraws from a course after the 6th week is awarded an F, which does count in the GPA.

CUSIT follows the HEC rule for converting a CGPA to a percentage: take the minimum percentage of the band the CGPA falls in — a bracket lookup, not a “CGPA × 25” multiply. The handbook's own worked example: a CGPA of 3.00 equals 71% (the floor of the B band), not 75%.

Improving an F grade is compulsory; students may also improve a C-, D+ or D (undergraduate) or C+/C (graduate) by re-registering, paying the full fee again, and attending at least 75% of classes. Students who retake a course for grade improvement become ineligible for the University Gold Medal or Distinction Certificate.

Normal academic progress means maintaining the minimum CGPA of 2.00 required for the degree. A student who falls below 2.00 is placed on First Academic Probation for the next semester with a written warning.

• If the student does not raise the CGPA back to 2.00/4.00, they move to a second probation — the Last Academic Probation.
• Failing to clear the Last Academic Probation results in being dropped from the University.

The probation status (“First” / “Last Academic Probation”) is printed on the partial e-transcript. A student on probation must re-register failed courses on priority and meet an academic advisor for mandatory counseling.

To be awarded a degree, a CUSIT student must earn the required credit hours, pass all core, supporting and compulsory courses, and meet the minimum CGPA on the 4.00 scale for their level:

• Bachelor / Master — 2.00
• MS / M.Phil — 2.50
• Ph.D — 3.00

CUSIT recognises top graduates with medals and certificates awarded batch-wise by discipline (excluding MS/M.Phil and Ph.D):

• University Gold Medal — first position in the discipline, with a CGPA of at least 3.30/4.00 (3.00 for MA English), all examinations passed in the first attempt, all credit hours earned at CUSIT with no transferred or exempted courses, and no disciplinary penalty.
• University Distinction Certificate — awarded when no one qualifies for the Gold Medal, to a first-position student with a CGPA above 3.00/4.00.
• Dean's List — compiled each term for students scoring an SGPA of 3.30 with a full course load (3.00 for MA English).

Credits earned at other HEC-recognised institutions may be transferred, subject to evaluation by the University's equivalence committee:

• A course is accepted only if its grade is at least C (undergraduate) or B (graduate), and its outline matches at least 75% of the University's course.
• At most 40% of the degree's total credits may be transferred.
• Grades and grade points of transferred courses are not counted toward your CUSIT CGPA — they appear on the full transcript with the originating institution's name, but only courses taken at CUSIT count in the CGPA.
