University of Health Sciences (UHS) GPA Calculator

UHS grades its semester-based undergraduate programs — Allied Health Sciences, BS Nursing and Pharm.D — on a standard scale of 0.00 to 4.00. Each subject earns a percentage mark, which is converted to a grade point; the university states its grading system is “adopted as per HEC guideline,” the Higher Education Commission's Policy Guidelines for the Implementation of Uniform Semester System.

To pass a subject, a student must score at least 55% in the written component, at least 55% in oral and practical, and at least 60% in aggregate — all three thresholds concurrently, not just on average. A fractional mark of any size (e.g. 64.1% or 64.9%) is rounded up to the next whole percentage (65%) before a grade is assigned.

UHS's MBBS and BDS programs are not covered by this grading scheme — those run on an annual professional-examination system with no GPA, administered by UHS's affiliated medical and dental colleges under the university's regulatory oversight. This calculator applies to UHS's own semester-based Allied Health Sciences, BS Nursing, and Pharm.D programs.

UHS reports a Semester Grade Point Average (GPA) for each term and a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) across all completed semesters. Both are credit-hour-weighted means: each course's grade point is multiplied by its credit hours, these are summed across the relevant courses, and the total is divided by the total credit hours — so a course carrying more credit hours weighs more heavily in the average.

A UHS student is promoted to the next semester on earning a GPA of 2.0 or above and passing all subjects. Falling short of either condition doesn't end a student's studies outright — it triggers probation instead, under three scenarios: a GPA below 2.0 while still passing every subject (must exceed 2.0 the following semester); a GPA below 2.0 combined with a subject failure (must also clear the failed subject the next time it's offered); or being debarred from an exam in a subject for short attendance (must clear that subject next time).

A UHS student may have at most two probations across a standard 4-year degree, split into two windows: one allowed probation in semesters 1–4, and one in semesters 5–8. A second probation within the same 4-semester window — consecutive or not — results in the student being dropped from the University's rolls. A dropped student may seek re-admission once, as a fresh candidate, after fulfilling the standard admission process.

To be awarded an undergraduate degree in Allied Health Sciences, BS Nursing, or Pharm.D, a UHS student must: complete the minimum required credit hours within the allowed program duration; secure at least a “D” grade in every course; have taken no more than two probations across the entire program; and reach a minimum CGPA of 2.00.

UHS recognizes top academic performance at the end of the undergraduate program:

• Gold Medal — awarded to the first-position holder by CGPA, per degree program.
• Distinction Certificate — awarded to students who earn an A+ grade in a subject.
• Roll of Honor — awarded to a student who completes their degree program with a CGPA of 4.00.

A student is not eligible for a medal or the Roll of Honor if they passed the relevant examination on a second attempt, or if they retook a course specifically to improve their CGPA.

UHS accepts transfer of credit hours from another accredited higher-education institution (or between its own affiliated colleges), provided the courses are equivalent in content and rigor to UHS's own. A student must be in good academic standing and must have earned a grade of “C” or higher in any course they want transferred — courses graded below C, or transcripts recording only percentages/pass-fail with no letter grade, are not eligible for transfer.
