National College of Arts (NCA) GPA Calculator

The National College of Arts uses an absolute letter-grade system on a 4.00 scale. Each course grade is fixed by the marks percentage a student earns, from A at the top down to D as the lowest passing grade; marks below the D threshold are recorded as U (Ungraded/Fail) and carry zero grade points. Final course assessment combines coursework and project/studio evaluation, with roughly 60% weight on class and coursework. A semester runs 16 weeks of teaching plus 2 weeks of examinations, and there is no supplementary or special examination in the semester system.

The Grade Point Average is calculated at the end of each semester across all courses completed that term, and the Cumulative GPA (CGPA) aggregates performance across semesters on the 0.00–4.00 scale.

A grade of U (fail) counts as 0 grade points and remains on the transcript. When a student repeats a course to improve, the transcript records the repetition and the improved CGPA is annotated (Imp). A W (Withdrawal) grade is recorded on the transcript but is not counted in the CGPA; an I (Incomplete) is awarded only for unavoidable circumstances such as serious illness or family tragedy.

Probation is a status granted to a student whose academic performance falls below the minimum college standard. A student who scores below the required SGPA in a semester is promoted on the condition of raising it in the next semester and is placed on probation for that semester.

A student on probation in two consecutive semesters may be dropped from the college. There is also attendance probation: a student whose attendance a teacher reports as deficient may be placed on attendance probation, and violating its terms can lead to being dropped.

Undergraduates on probation in two consecutive semesters, even after attending a Summer Semester in that academic year, are allowed re-admission in that academic year once only.

To be awarded an undergraduate degree a student must successfully complete all required credit hours within the prescribed duration and achieve a CGPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0.

• A 4-year programme requires 124–140 credits; a 5-year programme requires 160–180 credits; a double major requires a minimum of 180 credits.
• Minimum duration is 4 years (5 years for Architecture); maximum duration is 6 years (7 years for Architecture), with any further extension needing Vice Chancellor approval.

Medals, prizes, Rolls of Honor and positions are awarded to students who pass their internal and external examinations in the first attempt. Positions are decided on the basis of CGPA; when two or more students share the same CGPA, the position is decided on the basis of percentage among them.

No medal or Roll of Honor is awarded to a student who passed an examination in a second attempt, or in cases of CGPA improvement.

The Vice Chancellor may accept credits from NCA or another HEC-recognised institution up to a maximum of 50% of the minimum credit requirement for the degree, provided the courses claimed are identical or similar to the student's planned coursework and have not already been used for another degree.

Courses passed with less than a C grade are not considered for transfer of credit hours.
