Other grade notations

Some grades and statuses carry no grade-point value and are not used in calculating GPA: W (withdrawal), P (pass with credit), S (satisfactory), U (unsatisfactory), AU (audit), and IP (in-progress, explicitly excluded from GPA calculations). A grade of Incomplete (I) automatically becomes an F if not resolved within 30 calendar days of the end of the semester. GP (grade pending) and the academic-integrity notations FAI and WAI may also appear on a transcript.

How the GPA is calculated

Grade points for a course equal the point value of the letter grade multiplied by the number of credits. The cumulative GPA is the total grade points divided by the total credits taken at Quinnipiac.

Academic Good Standing

Undergraduate students must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 to remain in Academic Good Standing. A new student whose first-semester GPA is below 2.25 but 1.20 or higher is placed on Academic Warning; a first-semester GPA below 1.20 results in Academic Probation.

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at QU?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at QU?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.

Does this calculator apply to the School of Law?

No. The School of Law uses its own separate quality-point scale for the JD program. It adds a D+ (1.33) grade not used elsewhere at Quinnipiac, publishes no percentage bands, and requires a minimum cumulative GPA (CQPA) of 2.20 for graduation rather than the university's general 2.00 standard.

Does this calculator apply to the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine?

No. The School of Medicine does not use letter grades or grade points. Years 1 and 2 are graded Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory, and required clerkships and sub-internships in Years 3 and 4 use a four-tier Honors/High Pass/Pass/Remediated Pass/Fail scale with no numeric grade-point equivalents.
