Repeating Courses and GPA Recalculation at PSU

A course may be repeated if the grade earned was Above Average (C+) or lower. The most recent attempt always becomes the grade of record, whether higher or lower than the previous one.

Cumulative GPA may be recalculated if a student completes all degree requirements with a cumulative or major GPA below the graduation minimum: F, Denial (DN), Pass (D), or High Pass (D+) grades may be excluded by restudying the course and earning D or D+ or better, up to a combined cap of 24 excluded credit hours. The recalculated cumulative GPA may not exceed 2.00/4.00 under this mechanism, and the transcript still records every attempt.

Academic Probation and Dismissal at PSU

A student is in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. If cumulative GPA falls below 2.00/4.00 after a regular semester, the student is placed on academic probation, which is lifted once cumulative GPA returns to 2.00/4.00 or above.

A student is dismissed from the university after three consecutive warnings for a declining cumulative GPA (subject to an additional opportunity at the University Council's discretion), or for failing to complete graduation requirements within one and a half times the program's normal duration.

Minimum GPA to Graduate from PSU

To graduate, a student must complete all requirements of their approved study plan with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and a major GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Graduation Honors at PSU

First-class honors require a cumulative GPA between 3.75 and 4.00 at graduation; second-class honors require a cumulative GPA from 3.25 to less than 3.75. To qualify, a student must not have failed any course at PSU or a prior institution, must graduate within the median of the program's minimum-to-maximum duration, and must have completed at least 60% of graduation requirements at PSU.

Transfer Credit Requirements at PSU

Incoming transfer students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 (or 3.00 out of 5.00) at their previous institution. Course equivalency requires a minimum grade of C in the original course; grades from equated courses are recorded on the transcript but are not factored into the cumulative GPA, though their credit hours do count toward graduation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at PSU?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at PSU?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this Prince Sultan University (PSU) GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
