Jouf University (JU) GPA Calculator

Jouf University's own regulations print a shared national table with two possible grade-point columns – one out of 5.00, one out of 4.00. Jouf's Study and Examination Regulations state explicitly, in a university-specific rule printed beneath the table, that a student's per-course grades are computed on the basis that the grade weight is out of 5.00 – so Jouf uses the 5.00-point column, not the 4.00-point one.

One feature of that column is worth knowing: a Fail (هـ) is worth 1.00, not 0.00. This isn't a data error – it's how Jouf's own adopted column is printed, and the same non-zero Fail floor appears at every Saudi university that adopts this 5.00 column.

Beyond the per-course letter grade, Jouf's regulations classify your cumulative GPA into an overall standing at graduation, on the adopted 5.00 scale:

• Excellent: 4.50 – 5.00
• Very Good: 3.75 – less than 4.50
• Good: 2.75 – less than 3.75
• Pass: 2.00 – less than 2.75

This classification is separate from your individual course grades – it summarizes your overall cumulative average for your transcript and graduation documentation.

You receive an academic warning if your cumulative GPA falls below 2.00 out of 5.00. A warned student's course load that semester is also capped lower than normal:

• Normal course load: 12–20 credit hours per regular semester (1–10 in summer)
• On academic warning: capped at 14 hours
• Cumulative grade of Pass: capped at 16 hours
• Cumulative grade of Good or better: capped at 18 hours
• Graduating students may exceed the normal maximum, up to 24 hours in a regular semester or 12 in summer

Three consecutive academic warnings mean academic dismissal, unless the college or university council grants an exceptional further chance (a 4th chance is available on the college's recommendation; a 5th and 6th chance require the student to propose achieving a specific number of grade points from a set number of credit hours, at the university council's discretion). Colleges on an annual system instead dismiss a student whose cumulative GPA stays below 2.00 for two consecutive years, following a similar chance-granting process.

To graduate, you must successfully complete all requirements of your study plan with a cumulative GPA no lower than 2.00 out of 5.00 (the Pass floor). If you finish your coursework but your cumulative GPA is still below that floor, your college can require you to take further approved courses to raise it.

Time limit: you're normally expected to finish within your program's standard duration plus half of that duration again (i.e. about 1.5× the standard length). If you still haven't finished, your college can grant one exceptional extension up to double the original program duration, provided the delay has an acceptable reason.

On the adopted 5.00 scale, Jouf awards two honors tiers based on your cumulative GPA at graduation:

• First Honours: 4.75 – 5.00
• Second Honours: 4.25 – less than 4.75

To qualify for either tier, you must also:

• Never have failed any course, at Jouf or at any other university
• Have completed your graduation requirements within no more than the average of your college's minimum and maximum allowed study duration
• Have studied at least 60% of your graduation requirements at Jouf University itself

To transfer into Jouf from another university, you generally need to have completed at least one semester at a recognized institution, not be academically failing or dismissed for disciplinary/academic reasons, and hold a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 out of 5.00 (the university's rector may waive this for convincing reasons). You must still complete at least 60% of your degree's required credit hours at Jouf itself, and transfers only move between equivalent or lower academic degree levels, never to a higher one.

Equated/transferred courses are recorded on your academic transcript but are excluded entirely from your cumulative GPA calculation at Jouf – only grades earned in courses you take at Jouf count toward your GPA.
