Grading policy at King Faisal University
King Faisal University grades courses on a point scale under the Council of University Affairs' unified "Study and Examination Regulations for the University Level." The national regulation prints two parallel point columns (out of 5.00 and out of 4.00); KFU's own student guide for the College of Veterinary Medicine applies the 5.00 column throughout, including a fail grade (F) worth 1.00 rather than 0.00.
The In-Progress (IP) status carries no grade-point weight and does not affect the GPA.

How GPA is calculated
The semester GPA is the sum of the points earned in all courses taken that semester, divided by the sum of the credit units for those courses; a course's points equal its credit units multiplied by the grade-point value earned. The cumulative GPA is the same calculation applied to every course taken since the student enrolled at the university.

Course load limits by cumulative GPA
A student's maximum course load per semester (or per year, under the annual system) is tied to cumulative GPA out of 5.00: a lower cumulative GPA restricts the maximum credit-hour load, rising in steps as the cumulative GPA improves.
Students falling below the required standard progress through an escalating academic-warning sequence: a first warning, then a second warning, then a warning of dismissal.

Graduation GPA classification
A student graduates after completing all graduation requirements under the study plan, provided the cumulative GPA is not less than "Pass." At graduation, the cumulative GPA out of 5.00 is classified as follows:
- Excellent: 4.50 and above
- Very Good: 3.75 to less than 4.50
- Good: 2.75 to less than 3.75
- Pass: 2.00 to less than 2.75
