Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) GPA Calculator

Central Carolina Community College grades curriculum coursework on a 4.0 scale: A (4), B (3), C (2), D (1), and F (0) quality points per credit hour. CCCC does not use plus or minus grades — there is no A+, A-, B+, or any other modified letter grade.

If a course is retaken, only the highest grade earned is averaged into the cumulative and program GPA; both attempts remain on the transcript.

Your grade point average is the total quality points (credit hours × grade value) divided by the total credit hours attempted.

Several non-letter codes on the transcript do not carry a graded value and are excluded from the GPA calculation: W (Withdrew) — "does not adversely affect the student's GPA"; CE (Credit by Exam) and TR (Transfer Credit) — both explicitly "will not be calculated in the grade point average"; credit earned through AP/CLEP/DANTES or prior-learning experience; and AU (Audit), which by definition is coursework taken "without credit." An I (Incomplete) is a placeholder that only becomes a computed grade — an F — if the coursework isn't finished by the following term's midterm date.

WF (Withdrawal/Failing) is the exception: it is counted in the cumulative GPA at 0 quality points, the same as F.

Grades in developmental courses (below the 100 level) are not calculated into the academic GPA, though they are counted in a separate Financial Aid GPA used to determine aid eligibility.

Students who do not earn a 2.0 GPA for a given semester are placed on Academic Warning and must complete a zero-level ACA success course (a cumulative GPA of 3.0+ waives this requirement). Falling below 2.0 for a second consecutive semester extends this to Extended Academic Warning, adding a credit-hour cap and required bi-weekly advising check-ins.

Students who remain below a 2.0 cumulative and semester GPA after two consecutive semesters are placed on Academic Suspension for one term (unless they have had a full calendar year away from the college), which is posted to the official transcript.

Coursework must be completed with a grade of C or higher for the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Engineering, and all health-science programs except nursing. All NUR-prefix nursing courses require a grade of B or higher.

A one-time Academic Forgiveness policy lets a student exclude previous grades of D, F, and WF from their cumulative GPA recalculation; the full academic record still remains on all transcripts.

Full-time students (12+ credit hours) who earn all A's (a 4.0 GPA) with no Incomplete grades make the President's List. Full-time students with a 3.50 GPA, no grade below a C, and no Incompletes make the Dean's List.

Graduates with a 3.5 or higher average in their major program courses are named an Honor Graduate. The Highest Academic Award (minimum 3.5 GPA) goes to graduates in each award category who completed 75% of their coursework, and their final term, at CCCC.

CCCC accepts transfer credit from regionally accredited institutions on a course-by-course basis, requiring a grade of C- or better in the original course; transferred credit is not calculated in the GPA.

Alternative credit (AP, CLEP, DANTES exam scores, or credit by examination for prior learning/work experience) is also excluded from the GPA. At least a quarter of the credit for any certificate, diploma, or degree must be earned directly at CCCC, and no more than 20% of a program's required credit may come from credit-by-experience.
