Harding University GPA Calculator

Cumulative GPA is calculated by dividing total quality points earned by total GPA hours. Quality points are hours attempted multiplied by the grade points awarded for a course.

Grades of I (Incomplete), CR (Credit Awarded), NC (No Credit), EX (Credit by Exam), MG (No Grade Reported), and W (Withdrawn) carry no quality points and do not affect the GPA. A WF (Withdrawn, Failure to Attend) grade counts the same as an F in the GPA.

A student may repeat any previously taken course; only the highest grade earned counts toward the GPA, though all attempts remain on the transcript. Raising a GPA by repeating a course and then withdrawing is not permitted.

An Incomplete ("I") is treated as an NC for GPA purposes until removed, and automatically becomes an F if not resolved by the stated deadline.

Under Arkansas Act 1000 of 1991, undergraduates who have not been enrolled anywhere for at least five consecutive years may petition, within their first 12 semester hours back at Harding, to have previously earned grades and credits removed from their cumulative GPA (granted once, and only if the semester(s) in question had a GPA no higher than 1.99).

Undergraduates fall below Good Standing based on cumulative hours attempted and GPA: under 2.00 institutional/cumulative GPA triggers Academic Warning at any hour level, and Academic Probation once GPA falls under 1.50 (up to 30 hours), 1.75 (31-45 hours), or 1.90 (46-60 hours). A semester GPA below 1.0 can also trigger Probation or Suspension directly.

Failure to clear Probation by the end of the next semester results in Academic Suspension, unless a 2.25 semester GPA is reached. A first suspension lasts one semester, a second lasts two, and later suspensions are indefinite.

The Dean's List honors undergraduates who earn a 3.65 GPA on 12 or more hours in a term with no missing or incomplete grades (3.80 or higher for College of Pharmacy professional-phase students).

Graduating seniors and Pharmacy graduates earn Latin honors on cumulative GPA: cum laude at 3.5, magna cum laude at 3.75, and summa cum laude at 3.9 or higher. Undergraduates who finish with a 4.0 cumulative GPA and no repeated courses are eligible for the President's List.

Transfer credits are calculated into a student's cumulative GPA at Harding, except for credit earned at international schools. Incoming transfer students with plus/minus grades have their quality points adjusted according to the sending school's own grading policy.
