Delaware State University (DSU) GPA Calculator

Your GPA is calculated by dividing the total number of quality points you've earned by the total number of GPA hours attempted. Grades of I, W, WA, AU, S, U, and P (Incomplete, Withdrew, Administrative Withdrawal, Audit, Satisfactory, Unsatisfactory, and Pass) are not computed into your GPA at all — only credits, not quality points, come from those grades.

If you repeat a course, only your highest grade counts toward your GPA; the lower attempt is disregarded from the calculation but stays on your transcript. Repeated courses are marked with an "E" (excluded from the GPA) or "I" [transcript symbol, not the Incomplete grade] (included in the GPA) next to the course.

If your GPA for any single semester falls below 1.70, you'll be placed on academic probation for the following semester — unless your cumulative GPA is already 2.00 or higher. While on probation you're limited to a maximum of 13 credit hours, ineligible to hold elective office or represent the University, and (if you have incompletes from the prior semester) barred from registering until those are resolved and a 2.00 average is achieved.

If you don't reach a 2.00 average the semester after being placed on probation, you'll be academically suspended. After one semester you may apply for readmission on probation, and must complete at least 9 semester hours with a 2.00 ("C") average or better during that reinstatement semester. Falling short of 2.00 again results in dismissal from the University, with reinstatement possible only after completing further coursework (12 semester hours at 2.00 in DSU summer school, or 24 semester hours at a "C" average or better at another accredited institution).

Each semester, the President's List honors students who earn a 4.0 in all classes while carrying and passing at least 12 semester hours (all A's). The Dean's List recognizes students with a scholastic average between 3.25 and 3.99 who complete at least 12 earned credit hours that semester. Any grade of Incomplete disqualifies a student from either list.

At graduation, honors are awarded to students who've attended DSU at least 3 years (90 semester hours): Summa Cum Laude for a scholastic average of 3.75 or above, Magna Cum Laude for 3.50–3.74, and Cum Laude for 3.25–3.49. Transfer students who complete their last two years (60 semester hours) at DSU with a minimum 3.50 GPA receive Honorable Mention instead.

Grades earned in courses taken at other institutions are not calculated into your Delaware State University cumulative GPA — only the credits themselves transfer in. Courses graded below a "C" don't transfer at all, and a grade of C- specifically will not transfer even though it's a passing grade at DSU.
