University of Calgary (UCalgary) GPA Calculator

UCalgary records standing in a course as a letter grade on a 0.00–4.00 scale, running from A+ down to F. A+ and A are both worth 4.00 grade points — A+ ("Outstanding performance") is a distinct, higher transcript grade than A ("Excellent performance"), but it does not carry extra grade points above 4.00.

Two additional notations, CG (Credit Granted) and CR (Completed Requirements), can appear on a transcript but carry no grade-point value and no weight in the GPA calculation at all.

Your grade point average is calculated by multiplying each course's grade point by its unit value to get that course's weighting, adding the weightings together, then dividing by the total number of units.

The result is truncated to two decimal places, not rounded — a GPA calculated at 2.999 is reported as 2.99, never rounded up to 3.00. All grades are used in the calculation of yearly and cumulative grade point averages, both for the official transcript of record and for the GPAs determined by individual faculties.

UCalgary does not publish a single, university-wide GPA threshold for good standing, probation, or required withdrawal — each faculty sets and publishes its own numbers in its own section of the Calendar. As one example, the Faculty of Science considers a student in good standing at a GPA of 2.00 or higher over courses taken since their previous review, places a student on academic probation at a GPA of 1.70 up to but below 2.00 (provided they haven't been on probation within the preceding five years), and requires a GPA of 2.00 or higher to clear probation. These figures are Faculty of Science's own and are not stated to apply to other faculties.
