Centennial College GPA Calculator

Centennial College records each course's final performance as a letter grade on a scale that runs from 0 to 4.5 grade points. Percentages convert to letter grades according to the college's fixed Grading Scheme (Appendix A of Policy AC100-06): grades run A+ (90–100%, 4.5 grade points) down to F (0–49%, 0 grade points), in half-point steps.

The standard pass mark in each course is 50 per cent, equivalent to a D grade or 1.0 grade points, unless a school or department states a higher minimum in the course outline.

Your Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of credit hours within a program; it is calculated at the time you graduate from that program.

Your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated the same way but across your entire academic history at the college, using all grades except for the lower grade in a repeated course.

Repeating a course: if you repeat a course and achieve a higher grade, the new grade replaces the previous one in both your CGPA and GPA calculations, and the original lower grade is no longer included. Both attempts still appear on your academic transcript.

Special Grades (Pass, Incomplete, Aegrotat Standing, Audit Status, Course In Progress, Transfer Credit, No Grade Required) represent a course's status rather than a quality-of-learning grade and are not used in the GPA calculation. The one exception is Failure Non-Attendance (FNA), assigned for unauthorized absence from required course activities, which is counted as a failure in your CGPA, GPA, and academic standing.

You must attain a program GPA of 2.0 to meet graduation requirements; passing every individual course does not by itself guarantee eligibility to graduate. Some programs require a GPA higher than 2.0 to be eligible to graduate.

Centennial recognizes outstanding scholastic achievement with two graduation designations, based on your program GPA on a scale of 4.500:

Honours — a program GPA equal to or greater than 3.900 but less than 4.300.

High Honours — a program GPA equal to or greater than 4.300.

If you are in probationary academic standing, you are at risk of falling into suspension after final grades are submitted if you fail a course or your term GPA is below 2.0.
