How CTU calculates your GPA
Your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated by dividing total earned quality points by total attempted credits. Quality points for a course equal the grade's point value multiplied by the course's credit hours — for example, a 4-credit course earning a B (3.0) earns 12.0 quality points.
When you repeat a course, the better of the two grades counts toward your CGPA; the lower grade is marked with a double asterisk (**) rather than removed from your record. If you earn the same grade on a repeat, only the first attempt counts toward your CGPA.

Repeating and withdrawing from courses
You must repeat any required course in which you receive a grade of F or W; a W grade is not replaced on your transcript when you repeat the course. Undergraduate students may repeat courses in which they received a grade of D or below. Grades of F, W, and I count as credit hours attempted but not as hours successfully completed for rate-of-progress purposes.
A "W" is assigned if you withdraw after the add/drop period but before the last calendar week of the course; withdrawing during the add/drop period unregisters you from the course instead.

Frequently asked questions
Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at CTU?

Do Graduate and Doctorate programs use the same grading scale?
No. This calculator uses CTU's Undergraduate Grade Scale. The university publishes separate Graduate and Doctorate grade scales with different failing thresholds and grade inventories — the failing grade (F) is 0–59% at the undergraduate level, 0–72% for Graduate, and 0–79% for Doctorate, and the Doctorate scale has no letter grades between B- and F (it has no C-range grades at all).
