How the GPA Is Calculated

Grade point averages are computed by multiplying the grade points earned by the corresponding credit and dividing the sum of those products by the total credit attempted.

The notations I (Incomplete), P (Credit only), W (Withdrew), AU (Audit), and LC (lab or other zero-credit course) are not computed in the GPA. A Incomplete must be completed and a grade recorded by the end of the next regular semester, or a grade of F is recorded for the course. A P grade is judged to be equivalent to a grade of C or higher, but carries no grade-point value of its own.

Repeating Courses and GPA

A student may repeat a course previously taken at Eastern Arizona College to improve their grade or update their knowledge of the material. When a course is repeated, credit counts only once toward graduation and only the higher grade is used to compute the grade point average, though all grades attempted still appear on the transcript.

Academic Good Standing and Probation

A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher is required for academic good standing. If an enrolled student's cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 after attempting 12 or more credits in a fall or spring semester, the student is placed on academic probation and limited to sixteen credits the following fall or spring semester. A student who fails to raise their GPA to 2.0 or higher by the end of the probation semester is placed on extended academic probation and limited to seven credit hours in subsequent semesters and summer sessions until their GPA reaches 2.0 or higher. A student placed on probation or extended probation due to extenuating circumstances may petition the Academic Standards Appeals Committee for an exception.

President's List and Dean's List

The President's List recognizes full-time students who complete at least 12 credits at the 100 level or higher during a semester (excluding Incomplete or Pass grades) with a 4.000 semester GPA. The Dean's List recognizes full-time students meeting the same 12-credit and level requirements with a semester GPA of 3.500 through 3.999.

Transfer Credit and the GPA

A student may receive transfer credit for courses taken at another accredited institution of higher education in which they received a grade of C or better. In unusual circumstances, a student may petition the Academic Standards Appeals Committee for credit for transfer courses in which a grade of D was received. Courses taken elsewhere while a student is academically suspended from EAC are not accepted.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at EAC?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at EAC?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this Eastern Arizona College (EAC) GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
