How grading works at Osmania University (2021-22 onward)
Osmania University (OU) uses absolute grading on a 0–10 grade-point scale for UG conventional programs under its CBCS structure. Your marks percentage in a course falls into a fixed band, and each band carries a single fixed grade point — the value depends only on your marks, not on how the rest of your class performed. This scale applies to the "As per UGC Framework" table, which the university's Registrar's office implemented for 1st-year UG students admitted from the 2021-22 academic year onward; students admitted before that year were governed by a separate, earlier table under the same circular.
The scale tops out at 10 (grade O, "Outstanding", for 90% and above) and its lowest scored grade is F(RA) — "Fail (Re-Appear)" — worth 0 grade points, for marks below 40%. Two further administrative outcomes, Ab (NA) for "Absent (Not Appeared)" and IC for "In-Complete", also carry 0 grade points but are not tied to a marks percentage — they record that no valid attempt was scored, not a performance level.
