Beyond the A–F scale, ECPI's catalog defines additional grade designations. AS (Advanced Standing Credit), AU (Audit Completed), EC (Experiential Credit), I (Incomplete), ME (Military Experience Credit), NP (Not Passed), P (Passed), T (Transfer Credit from Academic Institution), TO (Tested Out), W (Attempted/Withdrawal During Add/Drop), and WP (Attempted/Withdrawal Passed) are all excluded from GPA calculation.

A course withdrawal after the add/drop period is graded WP or WF depending on the grade earned at the student's last date of attendance. WF (Attempted/Withdrawal Failed) carries 0 quality points and, unlike WP, is included in the GPA calculation — the same as F.

A course may not be repeated more than once without approval of the Campus Director of Academic Affairs or a designated academic official. Grades earned in courses repeated after a withdrawal (W, WP) or failure (F, WF) replace the previous grade in the cumulative GPA calculation.

When a course is repeated to improve a grade, only the highest grade earned counts toward the cumulative GPA, though all attempted credits still count toward Incremental Completion Rate and Maximum Time Frame calculations. Financial aid covers only one repetition of a previously passed course.

Students required to take foundational courses must pass on the first attempt; a failure (WF or NP) results in dismissal from the program, with only one additional attempt permitted after readmission.

Graduate program students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better; falling below this threshold places a student in SAP Warning status. A minimum score of 80 is required to pass most graduate courses (73 for the Master of Science in Physician Assistant program); scores below the applicable minimum are recorded as F.

Students who earn two F grades at any point in a graduate program are dismissed. A failed course must be retaken, and a second F is not permitted even on a repeat attempt.

Undergraduate students must comply with the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy standards, among other requirements, to graduate.

Graduate students must comply with SAP Policy standards with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater and must have passed each course with a grade of B- or better, in addition to completing all required courses and course hours.

A student may be named to the Dean's List for exceptional academic performance during a standard semester, requiring at least three-quarter-time enrollment for three terms and a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher over those terms.

Graduation with honors requires a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher for an undergraduate degree, plus a recommendation from the Academic Program Director. Degree honors for undergraduates:

Transferability of credit is always determined by the receiving institution. ECPI University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate's, baccalaureate, and master's degrees and diplomas, but accreditation does not guarantee that credits earned at ECPI will be accepted elsewhere.

ECPI University does not imply, promise, or guarantee transferability of its credits to any other institution. Students planning to transfer are encouraged to contact the receiving institution as early as possible to confirm which ECPI credits, if any, will be accepted.
