What counts toward your GPA

Only the evaluative letter grades (A, B, C, D, F) carry grade points and count toward the cumulative GPA. The symbols P (Pass), NP (No Pass), SP (Satisfactory Progress), EW (Excused Withdrawal), I (Incomplete), and W (Withdrawal) are explicitly excluded from the GPA calculation, per LACCD Administrative Procedure 4230.

If a course is repeated, only the highest grade earned counts toward the cumulative GPA (LACCD Administrative Procedure 4225). Through Academic Renewal, students may petition to exclude up to 30 semester units of substandard ("D" or "F") coursework from their cumulative GPA; academic renewal is irreversible (LACCD Administrative Procedure 4240).

Academic Notice and Academic Pause

Students who have attempted at least 12 semester units are placed on academic notice if their cumulative GPA falls below 2.0, or on progress notice if 50% or more of their units result in "W," "I," or "NP." A student becomes subject to academic or progress pause after three consecutive semesters on notice.

Students lose registration priority and California College Promise Grant eligibility after two consecutive primary terms on academic or progress notice. A student placed on academic pause may request reinstatement after two semesters have elapsed.

Associate Degree Requirements

An Associate Degree (AA/AS) requires a minimum of 60 semester units, with at least 18 units in the major and at least 21 in general education, and at least 12 units completed in residence at LATTC.

The Scholarship Requirement is a "C" (2.0) grade average or better in all coursework attempted in the degree curriculum. Effective for students admitted Fall 2009 or later, each course counted toward the major must be completed with a "C" or better, or a "P" if taken pass/no-pass.

Transfer Credit Policy

Transfer credit for lower-division coursework completed at regionally accredited institutions of higher education in the United States is accepted toward Associate Degrees or Certificates; official transcripts must be sent directly to Admissions & Records.

Students who completed college-level coursework outside the United States may petition for lower-division credit toward an Associate Degree or Certificate, based on a detailed evaluation from an approved evaluation service and subject to conditions, including that the foreign institution was approved by that country's Ministry of Education at the time the student attended.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at LATTC?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at LATTC?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC) GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
