Webster University GPA Calculator

Webster University is on a 4-point letter grade system. Instructors grade student performance on one of two grading systems: letter grades or pass/fail. In courses using the letter grade system, a student may choose, with the instructor's agreement and by the end of the second week of class, to take the course Pass/Fail instead (this option may not be available in courses taken at international campuses). Until a final grade is entered, students see WIP (in progress) on their student record.

The Career Cumulative GPA is based only on work taken at Webster University; the Total Cumulative GPA includes all coursework, both transfer and Webster. CR (Credit awarded), Pass (P), Incomplete (I), Withdrawn (W) and Waived (WV) are not used in calculating the GPA. If a student repeats a course, only the most recent grade is used to calculate the GPA; students must repeat a required course in which an F, WF, or ZF was earned.

Students are in good academic standing when their Webster University career cumulative GPA is at or above 2.0. Degree-seeking students whose career cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 are placed on Academic Probation; a student on probation moves to Extended Probation if their semester GPA is above 2.0 but their career cumulative GPA remains below 2.0. Students are suspended if: a degree-seeking student earns below a 1.0 career cumulative GPA in their first semester/term; a degree-seeking student on probation or extended probation has a semester GPA below 2.0 while their career cumulative GPA is also below 2.0; or a non-degree student earns below a 2.0 career cumulative GPA. Suspended students may appeal and request reinstatement.

To earn a bachelor's degree, students must earn a Webster University Career Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better, in addition to completing at least 120 total credit hours with at least 30 of the last 36 credit hours earned in residence at Webster University.

Students who complete at least 12 credit hours in a semester (at least 6 with regular letter grades), with no Incompletes or Withdrawals, and achieve a semester GPA of 3.80 or higher are placed on the Dean's List for that semester.

University Academic Honors at graduation require a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.7 (plus at least 45 graded credit hours at Webster and 90 graded credit hours overall): cum laude for 3.70–3.79, magna cum laude for 3.80–3.89, and summa cum laude for 3.90–4.0.

Webster University accepts a maximum of 90 transfer credit hours toward a bachelor's degree, and accepts college-level transfer work completed with a grade of C- or better. Transfer credit hours do not count toward the University's residency requirement (30 of the last 36 credit hours must be completed at Webster). If a student has more transferable credit than the maximum allowed, courses with grades of A, B, C, or P are accepted first, and no grade of D transfers if enough credits with a C or above are already available.
