How Plus/Minus and Non-Credit Grades Affect Your GPA
Instructors may augment A, B, C, and D grades with a "+" or "-" to show high or low achievement within the letter grade. These augmented grades appear on the transcript but do not change the grade's value for GPA purposes — an A+, A, and A- are all worth the same quality points.
- S (Satisfactory), P (Passing), AU (Audit), N (No grade), and W (Withdrawal) are not counted in the GPA.
- I (Incomplete) and X (Excused absence from a final exam) carry no GPA value while outstanding, but convert to an F if not resolved by the stated deadline.
- U (Unsatisfactory) is counted as an F in the undergraduate GPA only; it is not counted in the graduate GPA.
