Academic and Progress Notice, Pause, and Restart
A student who has attempted at least 12 semester units at Taft College (graded A, B, C, D, F, FW, or P) is placed on Academic Notice if their institutional cumulative GPA falls below 2.0, and on Continued Academic Notice after two consecutive semesters below 2.0. A student is removed from Academic Notice once their institutional cumulative GPA reaches 2.0 or higher.
A student is placed on Progress Notice when W, I, FW, or NP grades reach or exceed 50 percent of attempted units, and on Continued Progress Notice after three consecutive semesters at or above that threshold. A student is removed from Progress Notice once W/I/FW/NP units drop below 50 percent.
A student on continued notice for three consecutive semesters is subject to Pause and may petition the Director of Admissions and Records to restart after a one-semester lapse. A restarted student must earn at least a 2.0 GPA (or, for progress pause, keep W/I/NP under 50 percent of units) in their first semester back to continue enrolling.
