Campbellsville University (CU) GPA Calculator

CU grades on a 4.0 scale with five core letter grades: A (4.0), B (3.0), C (2.0), D (1.0), and F (0.0). Plus and minus grades aren't weighted — if a plus or minus is ever recorded, it doesn't change the number of quality points.

A WA ("Withdraw – Absence") grade is also computed into your GPA at 0.0 quality points, the same as an F — it's assigned for withdrawal due to excessive absences.

Several other marks appear on a transcript but carry no quality points and aren't computed into your GPA, including I (Incomplete), NR (Not Reported), S/U (Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory), W (Withdraw), and WN (Withdraw – Never Attended).

Your GPA is calculated as Quality Points ÷ GPA Hours Attempted. Only grades of A, B, C, D, F, or WA count as "GPA Hours Attempted" — every other grade (I, NR, S, U, W, WN) is excluded from the calculation, even though it still counts toward your total hours attempted.

CU calculates both a term/career GPA (Campbellsville coursework only) and a cumulative GPA, which combines academic work from all institutions you've attended.

If you repeat a course, all attempts stay on your academic record, but only your last grade earned is used in your GPA calculation.

You're in Good Standing once you meet the minimum cumulative GPA for your number of completed semesters: 1.60 after 1 semester, 1.80 after 2, and 2.00 from your 3rd semester onward.

Falling short places you on Academic Probation for the following semester, with your course load capped at 15 credit hours. If you don't reach the required GPA by the end of that term, you're subject to Academic Suspension.

After a one-semester suspension, you may apply for readmission; if reinstated, you return on probation and have two semesters to reach a 2.0 GPA.

You need a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA to graduate from Campbellsville University, and at least a 2.1 GPA in your area of concentration, major, minor, or field of specialization.

Students in teacher preparation programs face a higher bar: a 2.75 GPA is required both to be admitted to the Educator Preparation Program and to graduate.

At commencement, CU recognizes Academic Distinction based on your combined GPA across all institutions attended: Summa Cum Laude (3.85 or higher), Magna Cum Laude (3.70–3.84), and Cum Laude (3.50–3.69).

Each semester, students carrying at least 12 GPA hours are recognized with a 4.0 GPA on the President's List or a 3.5 GPA or above on the Dean's List. An Incomplete (I) or Not Reported (NR) grade disqualifies you from either list that term.
