Rock Valley College (RVC) GPA Calculator

Rock Valley College (RVC) grades coursework on a four-point scale: A = 4.0 (Superior), B = 3.0 (Good), C = 2.0 (Average), D = 1.0 (Poor), F = 0 (Failure). No A+ grade is awarded.

Other transcript notations — W (Withdrew/Not completed), T (Credit by proficiency), AU (Audit), P (Successful completion), I (Incomplete), G (Transfer grade of A–C), and H (Transfer grade of D) — carry no grade points and are not figured into the GPA.

GPA is calculated at the end of each semester using all completed A, B, C, D, and F grades, excluding courses taken pass/fail and courses numbered below 100. Grade points for each letter grade are multiplied by the credit hours earned, then divided by the total credit hours attempted for A, B, C, D, or F.

If a course is repeated, only the best grade earned counts toward the GPA. An Incomplete (I) not resolved within 12 months converts to an F.

Academic forgiveness allows a one-time, permanent removal of up to 15 semester hours of D or F grades (in courses numbered 100 or above) from the GPA calculation only — the grades remain on the transcript, and receiving transfer institutions are not obligated to honor the forgiveness.

Students completing at least 12 college-level credit hours in a semester with a semester GPA of 3.25 or higher are named to the Dean's List; a 4.0 semester GPA earns the President's List. Recognition is awarded for fall and spring semesters only.
