Plymouth State University (PSU) GPA Calculator

An AF (Administrative Failure) counts as an F in the calculation of grade point averages. A grade of Incomplete (IC) does not carry a grade point while outstanding; a student may not register again for that course or graduate with an IC on their transcript.

Courses designated Pass/No Pass (P/NP) add to credits earned and attempted but do not affect the GPA and never replace a previously earned letter grade in the GPA calculation. Matriculated students may not take more than one-sixth of their total degree-program credits P/NP.

Two one-time exclusion options exist: Academic Rebalance (available once, in or after a student's first semester, only when that semester's GPA places the student in Academic Separation) removes grades of C or better from the GPA calculation for that semester (marked "I"/Include) while grades below C remain and are marked "E"/Exclude. Academic Bankruptcy (available once, at readmission) does the same for PSU coursework at least five academic years old. Neither restores credit for excluded low grades.

Good academic standing requires a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00. Students falling below the required cumulative GPA for their number of cumulative credits attempted are placed on academic probation; the required minimum GPA rises gradually with credits attempted (e.g. 1.00 as a first-semester student, up to 1.98 at 116+ credits attempted). Students who remain in the probationary range after three consecutive assessment points incur a first academic separation, which can also occur directly if the cumulative GPA falls further, into a lower range set for each credits-attempted band. A first separation allows appeal for reinstatement or later readmission once the cumulative GPA is repaired. A second separation moves a student to non-matriculated, part-time status with more limited paths back. Academic severance means the student cannot earn an undergraduate degree from Plymouth State University and is not eligible for reinstatement or readmission at any time.

A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.00 is the minimum required for graduation.

Undergraduate students who earn a term GPA of 3.70 or above are named to the President's List; those earning between 3.50 and 3.69 are named to the Dean's List. To qualify for either, full-time matriculated students must have earned at least 12 credits that term, at least nine of which confer grade points.

Part-time undergraduate students who earn a term GPA of 3.50 or above, with at least six credits that term conferring grade points, are named to the Honors List for Part-Time Students.

Transfer credit is accepted from regionally accredited degree-granting institutions for coursework earning a grade of C- or better (phased in for courses taken during/after fall 2025; earlier coursework is evaluated at a C or better). For transferred courses graded on a number/letter scale with no stated grade-point equivalency, PSU applies its own standard conversion: 100–93=A, 92.99–90=A-, 89.99–87=B+, 86.99–83=B, 82.99–80=B-, 79.99–77=C+, 76.99–73=C, 72.99–70=C-, 69.99–67=D+, 66.99–63=D, 62.99–60=D-, 59.99–0.00=F.

Transferred course grades generally do not appear on the PSU transcript and are not included in the PSU GPA — except courses taken under the NHCUC or USNH shared-course agreements, or PSU courses taught through the UNH College of Professional Studies, which are placed on the PSU transcript and are included in the PSU GPA like any other PSU course.
