Arapahoe Community College (ACC) GPA Calculator

Beyond the standard A–F letter grades, ACC transcripts can show I (Incomplete), S/U (Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory, C-or-better vs. below C), and CR (Credit), none of which carry a grade-point value. Courses numbered under 100 are developmental and graded P/A, P/B, P/C, F/D, or F/F — these are excluded from the grade point average entirely.

Administrative symbols AU (Audit), W (Withdrawal), WX/WD (Administrative Withdrawal), CPL/PLA (Credit for Prior Learning / Prior Learning Assessment), and IP (In-progress) are recorded on the transcript but are not calculated into the GPA.

Grade point average is computed by multiplying each course's credit hours by the grade points earned, totaling both, and dividing total grade points by total credit hours attempted. Only credits and grade points earned at ACC are used in the semester and cumulative GPA on an ACC transcript; developmental courses are excluded from this calculation.

If a course is repeated, the highest grade earned counts toward the GPA (for repeats beginning Fall 2006 onward); older repeats may instead carry a "Repeat (excluded from GPA)" notation. Academic Renewal lets a student exclude up to 30 semester hours of D/F grades from the cumulative GPA, one time only, after waiting at least two academic years and completing 6+ credits with a 2.0 term GPA.

ACC calculates academic standing once each semester, for students who have attempted 9 or more cumulative credit hours, using term GPA (TGPA) and cumulative GPA (CGPA):

• Initial Standing — fewer than 9 cumulative credits, CGPA at least 2.00.
• Academic Alert — fewer than 9 cumulative credits, CGPA below 2.00.
• Good Standing — 9+ cumulative credits, CGPA at least 2.00.
• Performance Support — 9+ cumulative credits, CGPA below 2.00.
• Performance Improving — on Performance or Returning Support, term GPA at least 2.00 but cumulative GPA still below 2.00.
• Academic Suspension — on Performance Support, Returning Support, or Performance Improving with a term GPA below 2.00; suspended for one term, with a right to appeal.

To earn a certificate or degree, a student must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better in coursework applicable to that credential (some programs also require a minimum grade of "C" in specific courses). Students must also complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for the degree or certificate in residence at ACC, or complete all program requirements at ACC.

Each term, students completing at least 6 credits can earn President's List (4.0 term GPA), Vice President's List (3.75–3.99 term GPA), or Dean's List (3.5–3.74 term GPA).

At graduation, a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better in institutional coursework earns Latin honors: Cum Laude (3.50–3.749), Magna Cum Laude (3.75–3.99), or Summa Cum Laude (4.00).

Only courses taken in residence at ACC are used to calculate term and cumulative GPA and academic standing — courses completed elsewhere and transferred in do not count toward either.
