Utah State University (USU) GPA Calculator

Utah State University awards letter grades modified by plus (+) or minus (-) symbols, except that no A+ or D- grade is given. (A) denotes exceptional performance, (B) above average performance, (C) satisfactory performance, (D) poor performance, and (F) failing performance.

Certain marks carry no grade-point value and are excluded from GPA hours: AU (Audit), CR (Credit), I (Incomplete), NGR (No Grade Reported), P (Pass), SC (Satisfactory Completion), SP (Satisfactory Progress), T (Temporary), and W (Withdrawal).

Only grades earned at USU are used in calculating the USU grade point average.

A GPA hour is a graded credit used in calculating GPA; courses graded Pass (P) or Incomplete (I) do not count as GPA hours. Quality points for each grade are multiplied by GPA hours and divided by total GPA hours to compute the GPA, which is truncated (not rounded) to the nearest hundredth.

When a non-repeatable course is retaken, only the most recent grade and GPA hours count toward the GPA; the earlier attempt remains on the transcript but is excluded from the GPA and marked with an E.

Undergraduates readmitted after a gap of at least one year may petition for Academic Renewal to remove grades of D+ or below that are more than five years old from the GPA calculation, provided they complete at least 12 credits at a 2.50 GPA or better after readmission. Academic Renewal may be used only once and does not apply to graduate students or to credits already counted toward a completed degree.
