Each semester's grade point average (GPA) is the number of quality points earned divided by the number of credits graded that semester for grades of A, B+, B, C+, C, D+, F, and WF. The cumulative GPA (CGPA) is measured at each Satisfactory Academic Progress checkpoint and again at the end of the fourth semester, regardless of continuous enrollment.

Grades of I, S, T, U, X, and W count toward completion pace only, not CGPA. Grades of P, NP, and M count toward neither CGPA nor pace.

If a course is repeated, the later attempt's grade replaces the original in the CGPA calculation, regardless of which grade is better; each attempt still counts toward completion pace. Bryant & Stratton College will not award credit or Title IV funds for a third or later attempt of a course already passed.

The D+ grade does not apply to AHLT, BIOL, NURS, CHEM, LPVN, OTAP, and PTAP courses.

Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), measured by both a quantitative completion-pace requirement and a qualitative cumulative GPA requirement, at each scheduled measurement point and again at the end of the fourth semester.

A student who fails to meet SAP is dismissed unless they successfully appeal. A successful appeal places the student on probation for one semester, during which the student remains eligible for Title IV financial aid. A student who does not meet the terms of their academic plan by the end of the probationary semester is dismissed.

Dismissed students may petition for readmission after sitting out at least one term, provided they can demonstrate documented mitigating circumstances (such as serious illness, injury, or a death or serious illness in the immediate family) and a change in circumstances that would allow them to meet SAP going forward.

Associate's and Bachelor's degree candidates must maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average in their program of study. Diploma-program candidates need a minimum 1.8 cumulative GPA for the LPN diploma program, or 2.0 for other diploma programs.

Academic Achievement and Dean's List recognition (each semester) require a term GPA of 3.30-4.0, a grade of "C" or better in every course, no grade of D+, F, I, NP, or U that semester, and good academic standing; Dean's List additionally requires completing at least 12 semester credit hours that term.

At commencement, graduating students with a cumulative GPA of 3.77-4.0 receive Summa Cum Laude, 3.54-3.76 receive Magna Cum Laude, and 3.30-3.53 receive Cum Laude.

Up to 75% of the total credit hours required for graduation may be earned through a combination of transfer credit, high school articulation, national evaluation, and proficiency examinations. Each course considered for transfer credit must carry a grade of C (2.0) or better on a 4.0 scale from the sending institution to be used in the CGPA and completion-pace computation; transfer credit awarded at "Pass" or "Satisfactory" counts toward completion pace only, not CGPA.

Credit by examination requires a score of 70% or better on the College's Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), or a qualifying score on CLEP, ACE, or DSST examinations.
