How grading works at Baruch College

Baruch College uses a 4.0 grade point average scale to determine a student's academic standing. Letter grades are assigned grade points according to the grading table, each with a corresponding percentage equivalent range.

Grades are grouped as: A and A- are Excellent, B+, B, and B- are Very good, C+ and C are Average, C-, D+, and D are Poor, and F is Failure.

Which grades count toward your GPA at Baruch

Not every grade on a Baruch transcript factors into your GPA. The P (Pass) grade, used under the Pass/Fail option and for certain non-credit-bearing and internship courses, is not included in GPA calculation. CR (Credit earned, for example transfer credit, military service, or exemption credit) is not included in computation of the scholastic index or in computing class standing. The Y grade, assigned for work in progress on a multi-semester Honors sequence, is also not included in calculating the grade point average and is replaced by the earned letter grade once the sequence is complete.

An INC (Incomplete) grade is temporary. If it isn't resolved within the grace period, it lapses to a grade of FIN, which is calculated as an F in your cumulative GPA.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at Baruch College, CUNY?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at Baruch College, CUNY?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this Baruch College, CUNY GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
What happens if you don't resolve an Incomplete (INC) grade at Baruch?

An unresolved INC grade converts to FIN after the grace period — the end of the following semester for a fall-issued INC, or the end of the following fall semester for a spring- or summer-issued INC — and is then calculated as an F in your cumulative GPA.

Do Pass (P) or Credit (CR) grades affect your GPA at Baruch?

No. Both the P (Pass) grade and the CR (Credit earned) grade are excluded from GPA calculation at Baruch College — they can count toward your degree credits, but they don't affect your grade point average.
