How grading works at PMAS-AAUR

PMAS Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) uses a five-grade absolute grading system on a 4.00-point scale: A (80–100%, 4.0), B (65–79%, 3.0), C (50–64%, 2.0), D (40–49%, 1.0) and F (below 40%, 0.0).

The minimum passing mark for undergraduate and Master's courses (including PGD in CS and IT) is 40% in theory and practical components separately; Ph.D. courses require 50%.

How PMAS-AAUR calculates GPA and CGPA

GPA (per semester) and CGPA (cumulative) are both calculated as:

GPA/CGPA = Sum of quality points ÷ Sum of credit hours

Quality points for each course are read off the university's Quality Points Table using the percentage scored in that course individually — not from the aggregate percentage across all courses — and one credit hour is weighted as twenty marks.

Academic standing, minimum CGPA schedule, and repeating courses at PMAS-AAUR

To remain enrolled, a PMAS-AAUR undergraduate must clear a rising minimum CGPA each semester:

  • 1st semester: 0.75
  • 2nd: 1.00
  • 3rd: 1.25
  • 4th: 1.50
  • 5th: 1.75
  • 6th: 2.00
  • 7th: 2.25
  • 8th: 2.50

A student who misses a semester's threshold may repeat that semester once. A student who reaches the 8th semester below the 2.50 degree floor must repeat their lowest-graded course(s) to raise the CGPA within the maximum time allowed for the degree, or is struck off the university rolls. A course failed with an F may be repeated during the minimum degree duration; the new grade replaces the earlier one only if it is higher — a lower repeat grade does not overwrite the original.

Medals and academic honors at PMAS-AAUR

PMAS-AAUR awards Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in undergraduate degree programmes of at least eight semesters (shorter programmes award only a Gold Medal) to the top three students by aggregate marks percentage across all prescribed courses, provided each also:

  • passed every course on the first attempt;
  • scored at least 70% in aggregate marks in each semester;
  • completed the degree within the minimum prescribed period.

One Gold Medal is awarded per Master's degree programme under the equivalent conditions. If two candidates tie, the medal goes to whoever earned more “A” grades during the degree (then more “B” grades if still tied).

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at PMAS-AAUR?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at PMAS-AAUR?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University (PMAS-AAUR) GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
What CGPA do you need to graduate from PMAS-AAUR?

You need a minimum CGPA of 2.50 out of 4.00 to be awarded a degree from PMAS Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, along with completing all prescribed coursework.
