How grading works at Rawalpindi Women University
Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) grades every BS course on the student's own percentage score against fixed marks bands, translated into Grade Points (GP) on a 0.00–4.00 scale — the full mapping is shown in the Grade Scale Reference on this page.
Each theory course is assessed as Mid Term Examination 25% + Sessional Work 25% + Final Term Examination 50%; a Lab/Practical course is assessed as Mid Term 50% + Final Term 50%. There is no retake of the Final Term Examination under any circumstances.

How RWU calculates GPA and CGPA
RWU reports a Grade Point Average (GPA) for each semester and a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) across all semesters:
- GPA = total weighted points of all courses taken in the semester ÷ total credits enrolled in the semester, where weighted points = grade points × credit hours of the course.
- CGPA = total weighted points of all courses taken in all semesters ÷ total credits enrolled for in all semesters.
A student who misses a Final Term Examination for an unavoidable reason (and has completed the required lectures, Mid Term, and sessional work) may be awarded an Incomplete (I) grade, capped at two courses per semester — she repeats only the Final Term when the course is next offered. BS/BBA students may repeat up to five courses (Lateral Entry: up to two) to improve a C or D grade, only in a summer semester or the 9th/10th semester.

Academic probation and dropped status at RWU
A student whose semester CGPA falls below 2.00 but above 1.50 is promoted on probation. A second such probation within the first four semesters means she is dropped from the university rolls, though she remains eligible to seek re-admission.
A student whose CGPA falls below 1.50 in any semester is automatically dropped from the rolls; re-admission is possible only if her CGPA is at least 1.20. Re-admission is allowed once during the BS/BBA program, after paying the full admission fee: students from Batch 2019–2022 must repeat every course (pass and fail) of the dropped semester, while Batch 2023 onward keep any course graded C or above from that semester and repeat only the rest.

To be awarded a BS degree, a student must reach a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00 by the end of the program. A student who finishes all her courses with a CGPA between 1.90 and 2.00 at the end of the 8th semester may repeat one or more of her lowest-graded courses to raise the CGPA to 2.00 (recorded as IMP on the transcript); if she still falls short, no degree is awarded and she is removed from the rolls.
