University of Haripur (UOH) GPA Calculator

The University of Haripur uses an absolute grading system. Your letter grade is set by fixed percentage cut-offs published in the university's Semester Rules, not by how your class performs — there is no curve, and your result depends only on your own marks.

What makes UOH unusual is the grade point itself. At most universities every mark inside a band earns the same grade point, so every B is worth the same. UOH instead publishes a Numerical Grade for every individual percentage mark, which means the grade point climbs with each additional mark you score. Two students who both hold a B can carry different grade points. This is why the university's own grading sheet prints a range of grade points against each letter rather than a single number, while the Grade Scale Reference on this page lists one grade point per letter — the closest a single-value scale can come to a per-mark table.

Two practical rules follow from that design: course marks are recorded and reported in whole numbers, never in fractions or decimals, and the resulting Numerical Grade is calculated to two decimal places.

The minimum pass mark is 50%, for every course and for lab work alike. Below 50% the course is failed, and those marks are not counted toward the aggregate.

UOH reports a semester GPA and a Cumulative GPA (CGPA), both on a 0.00–4.00 scale. Both are credit-hour weighted: every course contributes its Numerical Grade multiplied by its credit hours, and the total is divided by the credit hours taken — those of the semester for the GPA, those of every semester so far for the CGPA. A four-credit course therefore moves your average twice as far as a two-credit course.

• Rounding is deferred to the very end. UOH does not round your GPA, CGPA or percentage in any individual semester. The final CGPA and percentage are rounded only at the time of degree completion, and then to two decimal places.
• Withdrawn courses. A course withdrawn before the mid-term examination is recorded as W on the transcript and has no impact on the GPA. Withdrawing after the mid-term has begun is automatically graded F, which does count in the GPA.
• Frozen semesters. A semester dropped by freezing still counts toward the maximum number of semesters allowed for the degree, but it is not counted in the CGPA calculation.
• Letter grades are for individual courses only. UOH does not report a semester GPA or CGPA as a letter grade, and values other than grade points are not printed on transcripts.

Promotion at UOH depends on two things at once: your grade point average and how many courses you passed. On top of the averages below, you must pass at least 50% of the courses offered in the semester (repeat and improvement courses excluded), with that 50% rounded up — 50% of five courses is three, not two. A student who clears the average but not the course count is neither promoted nor dropped; they repeat the required courses whenever those are next offered.

From the first semester to the second, promotion is judged on the semester GPA. 2.00 or above is promoted normally; 1.50 up to just below 2.00 is promoted on probation; below 1.50 means being dropped from the program and the rolls of the university.

From the second semester onward the same thresholds apply to the CGPA: 2.00 or above is promoted, 1.50 to just below 2.00 is promoted on probation, and a CGPA below 1.50 in the second semester means being dropped. From the third semester on, a student whose CGPA is still below 2.00 after using up their permitted probations is neither promoted nor dropped — they repeat previous courses or semesters until the CGPA reaches 2.00, provided the degree is still completed within the maximum allowed duration.

How many probations you are allowed depends on the length of your program:

• Eight-semester programs, such as the four-year Bachelor: two probations.
• Three- and four-semester programs: one probation.
• Two-semester programs: no probation is allowed.

A student dropped in the first or second semester may apply for readmission into the first semester as a fresh candidate.

To be awarded an undergraduate degree at UOH you must reach a minimum CGPA of 2.00. That is the qualifying figure for degree completion, and it is the same threshold that governs normal promotion between semesters — so a student who stays on track for promotion is also on track to graduate.

Alongside the CGPA you must earn the credit hours your program requires:

• At least 120 credit hours for a four-year Bachelor program.
• At least 60 credit hours for a two-year Associate Degree.

Students in undergraduate programs other than Associate Degrees must also complete an internship or field experience worth three credit hours and a capstone project worth three credit hours.

The Controller of Examinations issues a certificate of merit to the student standing first in a degree program on overall result. Four conditions apply together:

• a CGPA of 3.5 or above in the aggregate;
• the student has neither failed nor improved any course;
• the course work was completed in the normal period; and
• the student was not charged under any disciplinary action.

The program must also have had at least ten active students at the time of degree completion. Where two or more students finish on the same CGPA, the position is decided on percentage. Gold medals for on-campus students and for affiliated-college students are awarded separately, and certificates of merit also go to the students standing second and third in each program.

Two groups are not eligible for merit certificates or medals at UOH: students admitted directly into the fifth semester of an undergraduate program, and students who opted for migration or transfer of credit hours to or between UOH and its affiliated colleges.

The rule that matters most for your average: credit hours transferred into UOH from another chartered university are not counted toward the CGPA. They appear on your UOH transcript with their credit hours and grades, referenced to the parent institution, but the CGPA is computed from the work you do at Haripur. The one exception is transfer or migration between UOH and its own affiliated colleges, where the transferred credits do count.

What can be transferred is limited:

• Only courses in which you scored a grade C or higher at the parent institution are considered. For migration between UOH and its affiliated colleges, a grade below C may also be transferred on the recommendation of the Departmental Academic Committee.
• Transfer is course to course, and a transferred course must match a UOH course in content and scope by at least 70%.
• No more than 50% of the total credit hours required for your UOH degree may be transferred.
• Time already spent at the parent institution counts toward the maximum period allowed to complete the degree.

Transferring credit hours affects two other things worth knowing. Your probation allowance does not reset — the maximum stays at two, and your earlier semester-wise transcripts determine how many remain. And students who transfer or migrate credit hours are not eligible for UOH merit certificates or medals.
