How grading works at AUP

The University of Agriculture, Peshawar (AUP) grades every course on an absolute percentage-marks basis: each course mark is converted into a letter grade and a grade point on the university's own 0.00–4.00 scale, set out in its Examination Regulations.

To pass a course, a student must score at least 50% in the theory component and 50% in the practical component separately — a shortfall in either part is not offset by a strong score in the other.

Probation, promotion and enrollment cancellation at AUP

A student must pass every course with at least a 'C' grade and maintain a GPA of 2.0 to be promoted to the next semester. At the end of the 2nd semester a student needs a minimum GPA of 2.0 and must have passed 50% of subjects, or is offered re-admission into the 1st semester of the following session. At the end of the 4th semester the same 2.0 floor applies alongside having passed 70% of registered subjects, failing which the student is barred from promotion.

A student who fails to reach the minimum 2.0 grade point in a semester is liable to have their enrollment cancelled, though readmission with the next year's class is allowed (the lost time still counts toward the maximum degree duration).

Separately, a student whose CGPA falls below 2.50 is given one chance to repeat up to three subjects already passed with a 'C' grade, specifically to raise the CGPA back to 2.50, within the maximum duration allowed for the degree.

Degree requirements at AUP

A degree is awarded once a candidate passes all prescribed examinations with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and fulfills the program's other requirements. Bachelor degree programs run four years (8 semesters); the DVM program runs five years (10 semesters). A student who fails a course is given three further chances to clear it within the maximum degree duration, which may not exceed six years (12 semesters) in total.

Gold Medal at AUP

AUP's Gold Medal goes to the candidate who passes every course of a degree program on the first attempt and secures the highest grade point average, provided it is not below a 3.5 CGPA. If more than one student ties on CGPA, the medal is awarded on the basis of the higher percentage of marks obtained. A first attempt means every component — midterm, assignments, quizzes, term paper, practical and final exam — was completed on time and appears on the first award list submitted for that course; an incomplete or late-listed result counts as a second attempt and disqualifies the student from the medal for that course.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at Agricultural University Peshawar?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at Agricultural University Peshawar?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this Agricultural University Peshawar GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
What CGPA do you need to graduate from AUP?

You need a minimum CGPA of 2.00, along with passing all prescribed examinations and fulfilling your program's other requirements.

Does AUP use absolute or relative grading?

AUP uses absolute grading: your letter grade is determined by fixed percentage-of-marks bands printed in the university's own Examination Regulations, not by how your class as a whole performed.

What happens if your GPA drops below 2.0 at AUP?

A GPA below 2.0 at the end of a semester blocks promotion to the next semester, and can lead to cancellation of enrollment — though readmission with the following year's class is allowed, with the lost time counted toward the maximum degree duration.
