How grading works at FUUAST

The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology (FUUAST) uses an absolute grading system: each course grade is assigned from the marks a student scores, on fixed percentage bands, on a 0.00 to 4.00 grade-point scale. The letter grades, their grade points and the marks band for each are set out in the Grade Scale Reference on this page.

The top grade A+ is a distinction awarded for 90–100% and carries the same 4.0 grade points as an A (80–89%). The scheme has no minus grades and no D grade; the lowest passing grade is C at 50–54%, and anything below 50% is an F (fail, 0.0 grade points).

How FUUAST calculates GPA and CGPA

FUUAST reports a Grade Point Average (GPA) for a single semester and a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) across more than one semester. Both are credit-hour weighted, so a course carrying more credit hours counts more toward the average:

  • GPA / CGPA = ∑ (credit hours of a course × grade point) ÷ total credit hours of the courses.

Each course grade point comes from the marks-to-grade bands in the Grade Scale Reference on this page.

Exam eligibility: the 75% attendance rule

A student must have an aggregate attendance of at least 75% across all courses in a semester to appear in that semester's examinations. A student below 75% aggregate is allowed to sit only in the individual course(s) in which his or her attendance reached at least 75% during the semester.

Minimum CGPA to graduate from FUUAST

A bachelor's degree is awarded to a candidate who completes all requirements of the programme with an aggregate CGPA of 2.5.

In the fourth year, a project or thesis is set by prior academic standing: a student with a CGPA below 3.0 up to the sixth semester takes a 3-credit-hour project in the eighth semester in lieu of one course, while a student with a CGPA of 3.0 or above up to the sixth semester takes a 6-credit-hour thesis, with one course each from the seventh and eighth semesters dropped.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at FUUAST?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at FUUAST?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
What is the minimum passing grade at FUUAST?

The lowest passing grade is C, awarded for 50–54% and worth 2.0 grade points. Any result below 50% is an F (fail), which carries 0.0 grade points. FUUAST's scheme has no D grade.

Does FUUAST have an A+ grade?

Yes. A+ is a distinction grade awarded for 90–100%. It carries the same 4.0 grade points as an A (80–89%) — the “+” marks the distinction rather than adding grade points.

How is CGPA calculated at FUUAST?

CGPA is the credit-hour-weighted average of your grade points: the sum of (each course's credit hours × its grade point) divided by the total credit hours of all courses taken. A single-semester figure is the GPA; the cumulative figure across semesters is the CGPA.
