Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU) GPA Calculator

STMU uses an absolute, percentage-based grading system: every course is marked out of 100, and the final percentage is converted to a letter grade and grade point on a fixed scale of 0.00 to 4.00. The undergraduate grade key runs from A (85–100%, 4.00 grade points) down to F (below 50%, 0.00 grade points), with A−, B+, B, B−, C+, C, C−, D+ and D bands in between.

Results are issued each semester on a Result Card/Transcript showing course codes, credit hours, grade points, letter grades and GPA/CGPA; the grade key is printed on the back of the card.

STMU computes GPA as a credit-hour weighted average of grade points: GPA = Σ(Credit Hours × Grade Point) / Σ Credit Hours, applied both per semester and cumulatively (CGPA).

• A W (withdrawal) grade — whether from a course dropped before the final exam or from falling below the minimum 75% attendance requirement — carries no grade points and has no impact on SGPA/CGPA.
• An I (Incomplete) grade also carries no grade points.
• Courses may be repeated once (regular semester or summer session); only the highest grade earned is used in the CGPA calculation, though every attempt appears on the transcript as a “Replaced Grade.”

STMU reviews every student's CGPA against the minimum required for their degree (either 2.00 or 2.50, depending on the programme) and assigns an Academic Standing status when a student falls short:

• Academic Dismissal — CGPA well below the required minimum (below 1.25, or below 1.75 for a 2.50-minimum programme); the student is immediately dropped, with only a one-time Vice Chancellor exception to restart the programme.
• Academic Probation — CGPA in the next band up; a student is limited to failed/repeatable courses and is dropped after a second consecutive probation.
• Academic Warning — CGPA closer to (but still below) the required minimum; a student is dropped after a third consecutive warning.

Probation/warning counts reset to zero once the required CGPA is achieved, and only count on regular Fall/Spring terms.

To qualify for the award of a degree, both undergraduate and postgraduate STMU students need a minimum CGPA of 2.00.

Degree completion is also time-bound: the maximum time limit is 1.5× a programme's regular duration — for example, a 4-year programme allows up to 6 years (72 months), and a 2-year programme up to 3 years (36 months).

STMU recognizes academic performance throughout a student's studies, not only at graduation:

• Vice Chancellor's Honours List — any semester a student achieves a CGPA of 3.5 or above.
• Gold/Silver Medals at convocation — require a minimum CGPA of 3.50 (or an 80%+ aggregate for batches assessed in marks) and no F or W grades during the programme.
• Advanced Merit Scholarship — a full first-semester tuition waiver for top freshmen, continued only if the student maintains a GPA of at least 3.75.
• Merit Scholarship — 50% tuition-fee reduction for any student achieving a 4.0 GPA in a semester.
• Financial Assistance Scholarship (FAS) — requires at least 2.5 GPA in the first semester, maintained at 2.5 CGPA thereafter.

Students migrating to STMU from another HEC-recognized institution need a CGPA of 2.5 or above (semester system) or 60% or above (annual system) at their previous institution; medical-programme migrants need at least 65% marks in their first professional year.

Transfer of credits is assessed by an Equivalence Committee on course content, credit hours and eligibility, and is capped at a maximum of 50% of the total credits in the programme a student transfers into.
