Muslim Youth University (MY University) GPA Calculator

MY University uses absolute grading: for each course, a letter grade is assigned from the student's percentage marks on a fixed, university-wide scale of 0.00–4.00, awarded on the basis of a normal distribution curve within each subject. The detailed grading procedure is elaborated in a separate university policy document, the "MY Grading Policy".

Alongside the ten graded letters (A through F), the University also uses several administrative notations that carry no grade point and are not counted toward GPA: I (Incomplete), W (Withdrawn), WSA (Withdrawn for Short Attendance), P/F (Pass/Fail), NC (Non Credit), () (Grade Replaced) and AU (Audit).

Semester GPA (SGPA) is the sum of each course's credit hours multiplied by its grade points, divided by the total credit hours attempted that semester; Cumulative GPA (CGPA) applies the same calculation across every semester taken so far. Both are rounded to two decimal places.

A student may repeat a course graded F, W or WSA, or one graded below C (undergraduates) or graded C itself (MS/MPhil students) to try to improve it. Every attempt stays on the transcript, but only the higher grade counts toward CGPA (marked "R"); a CGPA-improvement repeat is marked "(Imp)". Undergraduates are capped at 6 repeated courses over an eight-semester degree, MS/MPhil students at 3, and a student who repeats a course is not eligible for medals.

At the end of each semester, a student's standing is set from CGPA and SGPA: Good Standing requires both at 2.00 or above; Warning applies when CGPA is 2.00 or above but SGPA falls below 2.00; Temporary Enrollment follows a first CGPA below 2.00, or one during a Warning semester; Extended Temporary Enrollment follows a CGPA still below 2.00 during Temporary Enrollment; and Drop Out follows a CGPA still below 2.00 during Extended Temporary Enrollment.

MS/MPhil students face a separate rule: a semester GPA below 2.50 places them on probation, and two consecutive probation semesters can be referred for expulsion. Dismissal more broadly can follow the academic-probation policy, a time-barred degree, the course-repeat policy, unfair means, or fee default; dismissed Bachelor's and MS/MPhil students (other than for exceeding the maximum degree duration) may seek re-admission outside the normal admission process.

To earn credit for a course, a student needs at least a D grade as an undergraduate, a C grade in an MS program, or a B− grade in a PhD program. To complete the degree, the source states a minimum CGPA of 2.00 for a Bachelor's degree, 2.50 for MS/PhD, and 3.00 for a PhD degree — PhD appears twice with two different figures in the source text, printed here as stated.

Undergraduates with a semester or cumulative GPA of 4.00 and no F, WSA, W or repeated course can earn the Vice-Chancellor's Merit Award, worth a six-credit-hour tuition waiver; a GPA of 3.80 or above under the same conditions earns the Dean's Merit Award, with the top ten students in a program also receiving a three-credit-hour fee discount. MS/MPhil programs offer parallel Vice-Chancellor's and Dean's Merit Awards at the same 4.00 and 3.80 thresholds, without a financial benefit.

At convocation, graduating students who finish on time with no F, WSA, W or grade-improvement repeat (and were not transfer students) can receive the Chancellor's (Gold) Medal at a minimum CGPA of 3.80, or the Vice-Chancellor's (Silver) Medal at a minimum CGPA of 3.70.

A student transferring from another HEC-recognised institution needs at least 80% course similarity/equivalence with their intended MYU program, a CGPA of at least 2.00 (undergraduate), 2.50 (MS/MPhil) or 3.0 (PhD), and the course itself must have been passed with at least 60% marks under an annual system, or at least C+ (undergraduate) or B (graduate) under a semester system.

Transferred credit hours count toward degree requirements and appear on the transcript as "Transferred", but their original grades are not counted toward CGPA. Up to 50% of a program's total credit hours can be transferred in.
