Southeastern University (SEU) GPA Calculator

Quality points are the numerical equivalent of the letter grades and are assigned for each credit hour earned. For example, a three-credit-hour course with an earned A grade equals 12 quality points.

GPA is calculated as: total quality points earned divided by total semester hours attempted for which quality point values are assigned.

If a course is repeated, the highest of the grades is computed in the student's cumulative GPA, with the lower grade forgiven from the GPA — though all attempts remain on the transcript. A course may be repeated only once.

An "I" (Incomplete) grade is not computed in the GPA. If not resolved by the end of the immediately succeeding semester, it automatically converts to an "F", which is computed in the GPA.

Undergraduate degree-seeking students must maintain a semester and cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher to remain in good academic standing.

• Academic Notice — semester GPA below 2.0, cumulative GPA at or above 2.0.
• Academic Probation I — both semester and cumulative GPA below 2.0; limited to a maximum 13-credit course load.
• Academic Probation II — semester GPA at or above 2.0 but cumulative GPA still below 2.0; also limited to 13 credits.
• Academic Suspension — semester and cumulative GPA remain below 2.0 after probation; the student must sit out at least one regular semester and may appeal to return at a further probationary level.

Students on academic probation must complete an Academic Recovery Plan to remain enrolled.

A candidate for the associate's or bachelor's degree must complete the required hours for the chosen program with an overall average grade of 2.0 or better to graduate. Individual colleges and departments may require a higher GPA for their program.

A bachelor's degree requires a minimum of 120 credit hours; an associate's degree requires a minimum of 60 credit hours. Candidates must complete at least 25 percent of their program of study at Southeastern University to be eligible to graduate.

Honors recognition for associate's and bachelor's candidates is based on cumulative GPA at the end of the penultimate semester (credit and quality points from accepted transfer work are averaged in):

• Cum laude (honors) — cumulative GPA of 3.50–3.74
• Magna cum laude (high honors) — cumulative GPA of 3.75–3.89
• Summa cum laude (highest honors) — cumulative GPA of 3.90–4.00

Grade point averages are never rounded up.

Transfer credit is accepted from regionally accredited institutions. Up to 90 transfer hours may be accepted overall; a Florida AA degree covers up to 62 general education credits toward the general education core.

For current students taking coursework elsewhere on transient status, a transient course must receive a grade of "C" (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) or above to be considered for transfer back to Southeastern University, and transient approval must be obtained from the Office of the Registrar in advance.
