How grading works at DCCC
DCCC grades on a 4.0 scale with grade points per credit hour: A (4.0), B (3.0), C (2.0), D (1.0), F (0.0), and FA — Failing for lack of attendance (0.0). DCCC does not use plus/minus grading — there is no A+, A-, B+, or any other modified letter grade.

How your GPA is calculated at DCCC
Your GPA is the total grade points earned divided by the total letter-graded credit hours attempted: multiply each course's grade points by its credit hours, total those for the term, then divide by the total graded (GPA) credit hours.
A returning student who has not attended DCCC for two consecutive years may petition the provost's office for Academic Bankruptcy, excluding prior F and/or D grades from their GPA (the courses and grades remain on the transcript). The request is considered only after the student has completed at least 24 credits of graded coursework since returning with a GPA of 2.7 or above.

Academic standing, probation, and suspension at DCCC
You must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (C). If your cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 and you have attempted 6 or more credit hours, you're placed on Academic Probation.
Students on probation face Academic Suspension at the end of the Spring semester if their GPA falls below a threshold that rises with credits attempted: 1.50 at 16–31 credits, 1.75 at 32–47 credits, and 1.90 at 48 or more credits (attempted or accepted).
Separately, students who don't complete a reasonable share of attempted credits are placed on Lack of Progress status, which carries the same suspension consequence.

Graduating with honors at DCCC
Your associate degree or certificate is granted "With Honors" if you earn an overall average of 3.0 (B) in all courses applicable to the degree or certificate. At an overall average of 3.5, the award is "With High Honors."
