California State University, Sacramento (Sac State) GPA Calculator

Sacramento State grades on a 4.0 scale: A (4.0), A- (3.7), B+ (3.3), B (3.0), B- (2.7), C+ (2.3), C (2.0), C- (1.7), D+ (1.3), D (1.0), D- (0.7), and F (0.0). This scale applies to lower-division, upper-division, graduate-level, and some postbaccalaureate Education courses.

The University does not award a grade of A+.

Grade point average is computed by dividing quality points (total grade points earned) by quality hours (total attempted hours, excluding courses graded CR or NC). A GPA of 2.0 indicates a "C" average, and a 3.0 indicates a "B" average.

A WU (Withdrawal Unauthorized) grade counts as an F for GPA purposes, though students may petition to have their first-ever WU grade(s) excluded from the GPA calculation entirely.

Undergraduates with a Sacramento State and cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above are in good academic standing; falling below 2.000 triggers academic probation.

Students on probation are academically disqualified if their GPA falls below: 1.50 (freshmen, under 30 units), 1.70 (sophomores, 30-59.9 units), 1.85 (juniors, 60-89.9 units), or 1.95 (seniors, 90+ units). Students not on probation are disqualified if their cumulative GPA is 1.00 or below.

To earn a bachelor's degree, a student must reach a 2.000 GPA in the overall college record, the cumulative Sacramento State record, all upper-division courses used for the major, all courses used for the minor, and all General Education coursework.

Bachelor's degree graduates who complete at least 30 graded units in residence qualify for Latin honors based on GPA: Cum Laude (3.50-3.749), Magna Cum Laude (3.75-3.899), and Summa Cum Laude (3.90-4.000).

Semester honors (Dean's Honor List) require a 3.000 GPA for freshmen or a 3.250 GPA for other undergraduates, with at least 12 letter-graded units, no Incompletes, and no grade below C-.
