Clark College GPA Calculator

Grades A, B, C, and D may include pluses (+) and minuses (-). Several other symbols appear on Clark College transcripts but carry no grade points and are not counted in the GPA: I (Incomplete), N (Audit), S (Satisfactory — credit/unit only), U (Unsatisfactory — no credit/unit), and W (Official Withdrawal).

Grade points are calculated by multiplying the credit/unit hours for each course by the decimal value of the grade earned. Term GPA is the total grade points for the term divided by the total credits attempted in courses that received a letter grade; cumulative GPA works the same way across all terms.

A course may be repeated only twice (two repeats beyond the original enrollment) unless otherwise specified in the catalog. A withdrawal ("W") counts as a repeat attempt. When a course is repeated, only the highest grade earned counts toward the GPA, though every attempt remains on the transcript with a repeat notation.

Clark College reviews academic standing each quarter against a 2.0 GPA threshold. A quarterly GPA below 2.0 the first time results in Academic Concern; a second time results in Academic Intervention. If quarterly and cumulative GPA both remain below 2.0 after those steps, a student faces One-Quarter Academic Dismissal, and after that, Four-Quarter Academic Dismissal. One-Quarter Dismissal may be appealed to the Academic Standards Committee; Four-Quarter Dismissal may not.

Academic honors require a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40. For transfer degrees (AA, AA-DTA, AS, AFA, BAS, BS) and career-technical degrees (AAS, AAT), a cumulative GPA of 3.40–3.89 earns the designation "with honors," and 3.90 or higher earns "with high honors."

Grades assigned by a sending institution are not altered by Clark College on transfer. Courses completed with a grade of "D" or above are normally accepted in transfer, except at The Evergreen State College, which requires a minimum of 2.0 ("C") for transfer acceptance.
