How grading works at WCJC
WCJC grades on a 4.0 scale with five letter grades: A (4), B (3), C (2), D (1), and F (0) grade points per semester hour.
There is no A+ and no plus/minus grading at all — A itself, at 4.0, is the top of the scale.
A few marks appear on a transcript but carry no grade points and are not counted in your GPA: I (Incomplete), W (Withdrawn), X (Audit), and WX (Withdrawn, counts toward the six-drop limit).

How your GPA is calculated at WCJC
Your GPA is the sum of all grade points earned divided by the total semester hours attempted. Courses marked I, W, X, or WX are not counted in the calculation.
If you repeat a course, only the last grade awarded counts toward your semester hours and GPA at WCJC — earlier attempts still appear on your transcript.
Texas residents may also opt into Academic Fresh Start at (re)admission: coursework from 5+ years earlier can be excluded entirely from your academic record and GPA, though it can't be used toward a degree, prerequisite, or the excluded courses' credit.

Academic probation and suspension at WCJC
You're in Good Standing as long as your institutional GPA is 2.0 or higher.
If it falls below 2.0, you're placed on Academic Probation: you're capped at 15 semester credit hours until your institutional GPA returns to 2.0. You can stay on probation (rather than being suspended) as long as your GPA for that semester alone is 2.0 or better.
If your institutional GPA stays below 2.0 for two consecutive semesters and you can't post a 2.0 semester GPA, you're placed on Academic Suspension — you must sit out the following semester, and you return on probation until your institutional GPA reaches 2.0 again.

At graduation, a GPA of 3.5 up to 3.8 earns you Honors, and 3.8 or above earns High Honors.

Transferring credit to and from WCJC
Lower-division courses in the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's Academic Course Guide Manual are freely transferable to any Texas public institution offering the equivalent course.
When you transfer credit in, WCJC does not lower the grade you earned elsewhere — but for degree purposes or scholastic standing, transfer grades may or may not be averaged with your WCJC coursework.
