Incomplete Grades
An Incomplete (I) may be assigned when a student is making satisfactory progress but cannot finish coursework due to documented extenuating circumstances. The instructor sets a written deadline for the remaining work; if met, a final grade (A-F) is submitted. If the deadline passes with no replacement grade submitted, the Incomplete converts to an F.

How GPA Is Calculated
Valencia College calculates GPA by dividing total quality points earned by total GPA hours attempted, to two decimal places, not rounded.
Only A, B, C, D, and F carry quality points that count toward GPA. Other notations (S+, S-, I, W, R20, WN, X, AR, MR, M, U) do not affect GPA, even though several print a value of 0, though some still count as course attempts.
Valencia records four separate GPA values: Term GPA, Institutional GPA, Transfer GPA, and Overall GPA.

Gordon Rule Requirement
Under the Gordon Rule (State Board of Education Rule 6A-10.030), students must complete with a grade of C or better 12 credits of designated college-level-writing courses and 6 credits of math coursework at the level of college algebra or higher, before receiving an A.A. degree and before entering the upper division of a Florida public university.
