Oakland University (OU) GPA Calculator

In addition to the lettered A–F scale, Oakland University's transcripts use these notations, none of which carry a grade-point value:

• W (Official Withdrawal) — assigned when a student withdraws after the no-record period.
• I (Incomplete) — temporary, granted only with instructor consent for severe hardship; must be resolved within one year or automatically becomes an F.
• P (Progress) — temporary, for courses that cannot be completed in one semester; must be resolved within two years or becomes an F.
• S / U (Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory) — S implies C or better, U implies C- or lower, in courses approved for S/U grading.
• R (Temporary) — assigned by the Registrar when no grade was submitted at End of Term processing.
• Z (Audit) — assigned for an audited course; no credit is earned.

Only the lettered A–F grades count toward the grade point average, which is rounded to two decimal places; W, I, P, S, U, R and Z grades appear on the transcript but are not used in the GPA calculation.

Undergraduates may elect the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) grading option for up to 8 credits of coursework at Oakland University; S/U grades are not included in the GPA. S/U credits count only as general electives and cannot satisfy major, minor, General Education, prerequisite/corequisite, or CAS Exploratory requirements. To elect S/U, a student must have completed at least 28 credit hours toward graduation. An underlying alpha grade of C or higher converts to S; C- or lower converts to U. A repeated course must be taken on the same grading basis as the first attempt.
